Beware of this company at all costs! We contacted them for an alleged "free estimate." They came out, immediately started playing with the circuit breaker and outlets without explaining what they were doing, spent no more than 15 minutes doing it, then charged us nearly $200 for "tightening wires!" For 15 minutes of work?? 

When I asked them about the free estimate, the guy said that it "didn't apply" to this. Meanwhile, he never told us how much they'd be charging because if he had, he would have been kicked out of our home on the spot! They wouldn't leave without a payment, so I wrote up a check but we cancelled it later and then called them to discpute it. They wouldn't listen and gave us an attitude and then, WEEKS later, we receive a summons to appear in small claims court!

This company is a sham and perfects the art of bait and switch. Save your time, money, and stress and go elsewhere.

 No its worse then just a unhappy customer. This person KNEW that they had a problem and the moment you left they decided to just NOT pay you. They didnt see the value of your time. They are the worst type of person. They are a self entitled spoiled CHILD!!! Personally I think a good a$$whooping would benefit that individual. Really ripping you guys off AFTER you have fixed their problem only goes to show the LACK of common sense and manners that that individual has. I find it hard to believe that we STILL have people like this in America. They KNEW they were going to scam you, thats why they paid with a check. They would rather pay the $25 for a cancelled check then give you one dime of the money YOU EARNED!!! It always disturbs me when I see actions like this. Its not like an electrician just wakes up one morning and has a full working knowledge of how electricity works. You have to go to school. This means you are SKILLED LABOR. If I were you guys, I would teach this jack@ss a lesson and sue them for every penny you could. Not only for the lost revenue but for the slanderous statements THEY CHOSE TO POST!!

They knew they were going to screw you and they add insult to the very purposful injury they caused and posted a negative review about your business, which in and of itself is one big fat lie. You should sue them and make sure they spend the rest of their miserable lives eating out of trashcans and shacking up in their LUXUROUS cardboard box. People like this individual are WHY you take the steps you have in ensuring the customer knows the prices. People like this idjit DESERVE whatever you do to them. I kinda want to put a brick through their window myself personally, but thats just a knee jerk reaction. It really sickens me to hear of this. A REPUTABLE BUSINESS IS ROBBED THEN DEFAMED BECAUSE THIS CUSTOMER COULDNT ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THEIR PROBLEM WAS ONLY MINOR BUT THEY HAD TO PAY!

This is a case of an individual who is upset that we charged him a to drive out to his house and fix the problem he called us for in a short amount of time. I have worked for this company for over 10 years. He claims that he was under the impression that we offer FREE estimates.

We do offer FREE estimates, but with new installations or replacements only, as with all contractors. If you call us about lights or outlets not working how can we give you a price without knowing the reason why these devices stopped working in the first place?

As much as this customer will deny it, WE NEVER dispatch a service technician without going over up front costs with our customers, that way we avoid problems such as this. We have a flat rate cost to dispatch a technician to someones house, plus the cost of whatever repair is needed.

This information is relayed to each and everyone that calls us. We have never dispatched someone to a house without them agreeing to these terms before hand. As stated above, this is just a case of someone who is upset that we repaired his problem in a short amount of time and he had to pay us for it.

Most likely he was "embarrassed" that he had to pay somone to fix what we considered a minor problem. If it was so easy then everyone would do it and we would be out business. He also forgot to mention that after we were done he wrote us a check without one complaint and signed our work order stating he was satisfied with the completion of work.

It was after we left that he started complaining and stopped payment on his check. That itself is illegal especially after you sign a legal document stating you were satisfied with the above described work.

I personally oversee each and every job relating to residiential work in this company and guarantee customer satisfaction. There is just some people in this world that no matter how hard to try you can never make happy.  

I remember taking my computer to best buy because it had a problem starting up. They charged me $79 just to tell me what was wrong with it, then another $150 to repair the problem. I walked away a happy customer because even though I had to PAY for it my problem was fixed and I couldn't have done it myself.

If anyone out there knows of a contractor that will drive out to your house and repair a problem for free please let me know, what a perfect world that would be.

 I am the owner of Jem Electric and we care about our customers. Read other comments online or ask a friend, neighbor or relative about us. We have been in business for 20 years because of our excellent reputation and business practices. I personally talked to this customer and offered them $1000.00 plus their money back for the services provided if they could have us send out a service technician for a free estimate and charge them. They refused my offer. We do offer free estimates and always have. We do not however give free estimates on repairs. It would be impossible to stay in business if we sent technicians to people's homes who removed outlets, lights, breaker panel covers and such just to say "oh, you had a loose connection on this wire" now what, you fix it and we leave, having paid our qualified service technicians to find a problem for free. We do charge for service calls and always inform our customers before we dispatch a technician.
