Jim Walter Homes, Jim Walter Industries Don't wish to pay top dollar for cheaply built home. Tampa Florida

Jim Walter Homes is in process of building our home in Tampa. They brought a contractor named Tim from Ocala and most of the subs are from that area as well. The home was due to be completed last year but they didn't begin construction until November 2008. We are not happy with any of the home. They have used the cheapest products to build the home and used split wood to build the porch.

TThen they caulked the splits and in some cases they stuck little pieces of wood in them and painted over it. The home looks like it will not last a year and they are pushing us to close and sign for the home. We have pictures of the floor where the subs spit tabacco on the floor and then just laid the carpet over it, they left trash and even a cigarette box in the bathroom and put the tub on top of it, they drywalled a box of trash under the stairs, the doors do not close or lock.

They built the foundation and then dragged dirt out from under it and piled it up around the home. I had sent an email to Marvin and he stated for us to calm down and that he would take care of it and now that he thinks they have completed it, he sent an email that stated "I saw the home and it is built per contract". He hasn't even been out to the home.

We have owned the land for over 30 years and don't want to lose it. We don't know which way to turn at this point but have requested a meeting with Marvin, Tim, the inspector, as well as Jim Walter Industries since we have been told that Jim Walter Industries are still in business and will be taking on the responsibilities if any thing is wrong. We are also looking for an attorney to assist us. If anyone has an idea please respond.
