My husband and I had planned to build a home for several months but realized the economy was about to fall (February 08) So knowing that, we really didnt have time to build back our credit to build the home we wanted with the company we had chosen, we knew we had to do it now or chances would be that we may not be able to for several years not knowing what our nation was facing financially.

So we chose to go ahead with Jim Walter Homes beings our credit was not much of an issue with them as it was with the company we had chosen before. Well, it took almost a year before they started on our home. Then when they did, I had sence enough to go by the home EVERYDAY because I had a slight idea of what we might be getting into... I THOUGHT! It took months to get things going after they started marking off the land.

I took pictures , I gave the workers a break table...BIG MISTAKE because they were sitting at it everytime I dropped by which was three times a day at least. The workers were nasty, unprofessional, too old to be driving let alone working, slow, lazy and sloppy. I found their break/lunch garbage in my yard every single day. They'd leave cig butts everywhere and they never stayed a full day or came everyday, more like once a week.

Some of the rooms are off square, floors are uneven, no cabinet beraces, we had to put our own. Our house was to be on a cement slab, it was built on tiers/blocks and I made them brick it up along with several other things they thought they would get away with. Our plumbing in a bathroom fell apart when the water was cut on because the pipe was not glued inside the wall causing damage to my wall/floor. The staircase is uneven at the molding because walls were out of square in nearby rooms. The breakerbox is in my freakin kitchen!

They would not complete my home past 80% and only made us aware of this when it was too late for us to keep out previous home should we want to back out. We were stuck with a house we could not afford to finish and our payments are $1100 rather than the $800 that we were promised as long as we had our own insurance and we do. Now I'm at the point that I'd just be happy if they'd lower my payments and I'll finish this house myself but they refuse to. They could at the very least do that you'd think.
