Jim Walter Homes/Mid State Homes I am Sick and Tired of being Harrassed! Houston Texas

Let me first say that I was one of the lucky ones to have a home built in decent condition. It did take longer that expected, however, we were young and excited about owning our own home; so we dealt with the delays. After reading all of the reports of poorly built homes by JWH, I feel a little comforted but not much.

We had our home built in 1993. I guess because the market was not so bad we lucked out with a decent builder. There were a few problems but not many. We really did not have any problems until about 5 years ago when we decided to rent the home out to some friends. It has been down hill ever since.

First, our payments have been late a few times due to crossing in the mail or not seeing the renters due to vactions, but we usually get them before the 30 day marker. We have been yelled at, accused of being thieves and even had JWH employee's show up at the rental house and give information to our renters, scarring them into thinking they would foreclose.

In 2007 we were in a car wreck, lost the truck, spent a week in the hospital with my 14 yr old daughter and a shattered femur, my 17 year old ran away (teens) and my mom died. This is all in one year mind you and we were late several times on the house note but always paid it through Western Union. Did any of this seem to concern Mr. Wendell Dixon or Chuck Esloon? Not at all, instead the harrassment got worse. So bad we had to get an Attorney.

Our Attorney has spoke with them several times and has instructed them via mail not to contact us;however, they are relentless. Well I am just sick and tired. We owe around 15K on this home and that is it. We have been told by a good friend that worked in the Houston office for several years that they harrass people out of thier homes. She said they foreclose on property that can be resold at their advantage.

We have been told by a Mr. Lorry Mckearnen "not to make another payment on the home." Like that will work? He has also told us "just let it go, you can't afford it." No wonder JWH is closing their doors. I have a hard time believing that any company can continue business with ethics like this.

From what I understand, JWH will not be building homes, however they may be using a different name. If you have been harrassed and you know that you are current or have made arrangements to pay and have this in writing, do not continue to speak to them. Call a lawyer, I have a great one if you are unsure of who to call. Just contact me and I will give you her number.

It is sad that people are losing their homes or having to endure such relentless torture just because these men mentioned above are on a power trip. I have read horror stories on this website and I am honestly disgusted. PLEASE do not back down from these monsters! Reply to this report and lets get started on ridding the world of crooks like these!
