This company doesn't deliver on what they promise. They offer you the chance to buy a showcase at SXSW, and say that tons of industry people will be at the event.

After pressuring us to purchase a slot (claiming other bands will take the slot) they delayed giving us a final time slot long after they said they would, referred us to travel agent who wasted our time and wasn't going to save us money, and then posted actual complaints about SXSW publicly on their Facebook page!

Then when we asked if we should be concerned about his relationship with the festival, he told us that was "none of our business", that "everything was fine" , but in fact he lost several of his sponsors. Suddenly only one music industry person was guaranteed to be at his event instead of the dozens he mentioned in the first contact.  

The owner of the company is rude and callous. He contradicts his own information and then lashes out when you try to point it out.

His only redeeming factor is it looks like my money will be refunded- we'll see when this e-check goes through.

Avoid this name-dropping, mind-changing, unfriendly man who hides behind the name Jivewired radio. He thinks he is smarter than the artists he represents, and doesn't know how to communicate like a mature human being. Just empty promises.

I have spoken with the lead singer of the band that wrote this.  I will not name that band because sites like this destroy brands, and though the band in question here felt the need to attack us, I only wish to tell our veresion of the story, which is much milder and less caustic than this report indicates.

The band had agreed to take this complaint down in August but it still exists.  The band in question has skewed the details slightly in an effort to make us look evil, tyrinnical and uncaring, all of which simply are not true facts.  First the band representative demanded a premium slot without having the following to make that demand, and second, the band rep then accused us of being involved in some kind of travel scam when all we did was offer a travel agency at their request.  We do not book trave arrangements or hotels, which can be extremely expensive at SXSW by the way, for bands.

Also, we told the band that we sponsor a non-sanctioned or "rogue" showcase that is not affiliated with SXSW, and we were extremely transparent and forthright in mentioning that, and that the Facebook status in question simply indicated that SXSW would prefer that we do not run a rogue showcase and that we objected because we feel for our business model that consists of hand-selecting (curating) bands to play our events and choosing our participating sponsors far outweighs writing a check to SXSW and letting them make those decisions for us and not allowing us active participation.  Despite being a non-sanctioned showcase, the band rep wanted SXSW official event passes for all members, which run at about $650 apiece.  

We charged the band $75 to get them a slot at SXSW.  We hardly think that is any kind of excessive pressure, but, then again, it has been a tough economy ove the past few years. The reason we run a rogue showcase is because it is imperative that we align ourselves with corporate sponsors that most benefit our model.  That goes double for the bands we select to play on our stages.  Therefore, we do not give passes away or purchase them for band members, which would equate to my company financially supporting our competitors.

Finally, the band demanded that we guarantee industry audience members.  While we certainly invite a number of our industry peers and partners, and they do almost always and without fail attend our shows, there is simply no way to guarantee that those individuals would be present at a single particular show at a single particular time and date that the band wanted to set for themselves. We can't be responsible for the whereabouts of others who are in Austin with the sole purpose to conduct business nor can we request they cease all marketing functions to attend a 30-minute set performed by a mildly poular, local Wissconsin band. We booked 225+ bands last year, and the band that wrote this report is the only one with which we had a disagreement.  We also did not lose one single sponsor.  We acknowledge a miscomminication on our end, obviously this band thought that they were entitled to more than we legitimately offer, and regret that we couldn't come to an agreement.  It was at my discretion that we secered the relationship and refunded the $75.

In fact, we paid them twice what they paid us plus $30 dollars extra (a total of $180, quite a return in 7 days on a $75 investment) for what we thought was a simple case of miscommunication to begin with.   Despite all of that, they still felt the need to post a Ripoff Report regarding our product and services.  This is a prepostersous allegation that really is simply sour grapes more than anything.  Band doesn't get exactly what they want, so we more than make up for that (who else gives you double your money back plus more these days) and still we are made out to be the bad guys in a public forum.  

Doesn't make sense does it?  Meanwhile, the band that replaced them at SXSW and played their slot went on to play Summerfest, win $20,000 in the Land The Big Gig Contest and just came off tour with Third Eye Blind.  Maybe you should ask Hydra Melody what they think of Jivewired.  I am 100% positive that they couldn't have been happier with their decision to take that open slot.

We feel that the statements entered here on Ripoff Report regarding Jivewired are damaging and libelous. We are turning this matter over to our attorneys post haste.
