Does your business have a bad reputation?
Fix it the right way.
Corporate Advocacy Program™
First, this is a report about Job Corps, a program (for those who don't know) that is run by the Federal government under the US Dept. of Labor.
This program promised disadvantaged youth with an opportunity to gain valuable job and employability skills, each center, of which there are several hundred, even including a few in Puerto Rico.
Who get's scammed?
Everyone involved, even the government themselves.
I'll break it deown and explain.
How does the US Government get ripped off?
Because they apparently put little or no oversight into this project, they just hand out money b the barrels full to Management and training Corporation, and other people they've sold contracts to to operate the centers for them.
The vocational classrooms, (Culinary Arts, Health Occupations Training, etc) have substandard, if not downright broken equipment, secondly, there is no pace to learn at, by which I mean, there is no requirement to the student except to simply show up each day, thats right, they can live there, and have their food, lodging, and personal expenses, includig cigarettes paid for 100% by Uncle Sam, all while accomplishing absolutely nothing, and the system allows them to do this for up to two years.
Secondly, the place has to be guarded with an iron fist, because (1) the Dept. of Justice abuses the Job Corps program by sending convicted criminals there instead of prison!!! Meaning that the people there of their own free will are roomates with drug dealers, thieves, you name it. and (2) since the contracting compnaies get money from the govt. as long as you reside there, they make up all kinds of rules, like if you decide to leave, they don't cover any of your travel hom, effectively stranding you there, then they go so far as to tell you when you are allowed to leave the grounds, you must get a "day pass" or a "weekend pass" that they give you, or can refuse to give you for any reason, more control they have over you, you are treated as sub human scum by these people.
The taxpayers are paying over a billion dollors a year for this program, so think about it, if half of that went to prisons, they couls send these people where they are not a threat to society, and still have over $500,000,000 to spend on something else, if they spent it on defense, maybe we could have a stronger military, if they sprnt it to repay the National Debt, we could be out of the hole that much sooner, if the pt it back into Social Security, maybe my generation wouldn't have to wait until age 67 to retire, or they could flat out give everyone a bit of a tax break.
Job Corps started out as a good thing, but is now run by a bunch of con artists out to steal your money, and defraud the government and the people that are interested, and I mean truly interested in going there to better themselves.
In closing, as if I haven't already achieved this, I strongly advise you to reconsider going there if you had been mulling it over, and I urge every taxpaying citizen out there to lobby your government officials to cut off this parasite from our economic system.

The Government & Job Corps
AUTHOR: Penndawt Carneal - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Friday, December 31, 2010
Hello, this is Penndawt Carneal. I'm an OCT-College student under the Job Corps' OCT sponsorship. I live at the Job Corps - Pittsburgh centre while attending college.
Here is how I can see the government's involvment in the program: They are practically AWoL to their own program. The government is there, but doesn't seem to have it's attendance straight. This program doesn't take a government to run nationwide. The same vocational trades & advanced academics can be learned can be offered & legit if this program was what I believe it's best as, a private & non-profit program.
Here's some government/budget wastes in my centre, in Pittsburgh. These are assets used on our center that have nothing to do with the center's or program's productivity.
- The security department has three golf-carts that act as "police cars" driven all around our centre. One of these "police golf carts" even has a siren. Our center has four secuirty guards on-centre. Since one of them has to be at the gate, and one at the switchboard, and I believe one has to be in the security desk in the security building, there's one one remaining security guard who can use his legs or one of the three golf-carts. Why would one security guard able to walk need three golf carts?
- Our center has spent money on a wind mill that they use to "preserve energy". If that wind mill going to get those students to pass their GED & trade certification, then I'll support it. I don't see the revelance.

Go visit a Job Corps... Collbran, CO is the #1 center, you will see a whole bunch of young adults with shirts tucked in, good haircuts, and belts. I BET that you won't be able to tell the "jail kids" from the ones there by choice... You only get out of the program what you put in.

Job Corp, It All Depends on How Much You want It.

I am currently a Job Corp student and proud to be. Yes, many of the students there had a choice, yes, a CHOICE, of whether to go to Job Corp or go to jail and they chose to go to Job Corp for reasons unknown, maybe just to avoid jail, maybe to better themselves or maybe just to trick the system, who knows. Job Corp is being used as kind of a probation to introduce those young adults to society and help them to better themselves.
I went into Job Corp to better myself, it was my decision and I have a perfect record so I'm not just trying to defend anybody. Job Corp has taught me personally how to get along with people from different backrounds. Yes, there are theives and law breakers in Job Corp and they may never change, but, hey, they're everywhere.
It's part of adapting to be a fully functioning member of society. There's always going to be that jerk off down the street that steals and treats people like crap and that person who simply milks the government for all their worth, you can't escape those, you have to learn to deal with it.
I have been in my Vocation for about 2 months and I am practically complete, there are people in that class that have been there for 8 months or more and I passed them up in my first month. Some are lazy and milk the program and some try their hardest but can't learn as fast as others.
The program has worked wonders for many and provided them a very promising future and others use it as a crutch, just as a way to avoid having to be responsible. I think the program is awesome and you learn alot about different careers but more importantly alot about yourself it all just depends on how much you want it.
