Rented a room in a multi-room home that was not finished (floors still plywood, kitchen was not finished, paint was disaster all over walls, spiderwebs and more). Rented the place in good faith that the landlord would get construction underway promptly. over 65 days passed and finally landlord did floors and made the area more "habitable". Still missing screen doors and a proper kitchen sink; not a utility sink. Landlord didn't think it was appropriate to adjust rent to compensate for the area not being finished. He also would not reimburse me for any paint purchased to paint the area. I improved it for free basically. Kept asking for repairs and he would not do them. He entered my area and took the microwave out without my consent. Yes, he trespassed and broke in and stole the microwave out claiming he was within his rights considering the microwave was his and that it was only a temporary deal for me. He calls for Impromptu meetings at both his house and my house where he demanded that I and my housemates be present. He would bang on our doors to wake us up on a Saturday. He started getting agitated because of the repairs we kept asking him for so he then called my parents to "tell on me" and proceeded to call everyone's employers in an effort to get us in trouble with work. He threatened our reputations, character and credit if we didn't comply with his frivolous demands. He has been retaliating against me in several ways. I am now moving after 4 months of hell. I had to call the police on him already as he thought he could just come over anytime he wanted. I have TONS of emails and text messages showing him in the wrong. He cut the power off on my unit to get my attention not to mention that he cut our water off last week because he didn't pay the bill. I feel I have enough info on this guy to really put him in his place. All I need is an attorney to take it on. Constructive Eviction; not going home for the holidays because I am afraid of what he will do to my living area and/or dog. He threatened to find my new residence so he could intentionally sabotage me and my life. I don't tolerate bullies or slumlords.

Rented the place in good faith that the landlord would get construction underway promptly. over 65 days passed and finally landlord did floors and made the area more "habitable". Still missing screen doors and a proper kitchen sink; not a utility sink, bug spray, closet, proper lighting and a fully functional kitchen with working electrical outlets. The Landlord didn't think it was appropriate to adjust rent to compensate for the area not being finished. He sold/rented me something that was not complete or safe. He also would not reimburse me for any paint purchased to paint the area. I improved it for free basically.

Kept asking for reasonable repairs and he would not do them or it took several weeks if ever. Within the last month, he entered my area and took the microwave out without my consent. Yes, he trespassed and broke in and stole the microwave out claiming he was within his rights considering the microwave was his and that it was only a temporary deal
for me. He calls for Impromptu meetings at both his house and my house where he demanded that I and my housemates be present. He would bang on our doors to wake us up on a Saturday morning (10/29/2011). He started getting agitated
because of the reasonable repairs (clogged sink, hot tub broken, electrical outages, unsafe living conditions) we asked of him as a landlord. He proceeded to call on our parents to "tell on us" and proceeded to call everyone's employers in an effort to get us in trouble with work. He threatened our reputations (slander, defamation of character), character and credit if we didn't comply with his frivolous demands. He has been retaliating against me in several ways. We gave him our personal information (SSN, DOB) in good faith that he would not use it as a blackmailing instrument. I am now moving after 4 months of h**l. I had to call the police on him already (11/19/2011) as he thought he could just come over anytime he wanted. There are visible notes on each of my doors stating that I require 24 hours notice before entering my living area. That is a basic right to privacy per California law. He was supposed to have an electrician come by my living area on 11/18 per his email at 8 am. I made myself available, missing work, only to find that there wasn't an electrician coming. I called, texted and emailed him several times and not one response back. Then he arrives unannounced on 11/19 and demands entry in my living area without proper notice. I asked that he respect my right to privacy and schedule a time/date where I can be present. He took it upon himself to retaliate against me and shut off my power to my unit. That is why I had to call the police. He verbally threatened me and said I "better not touch the circuit breaker box" with an intimidating and aggressive tone. I feared my safety and called the police. I have several pieces of evidence in the form of emails and text messages showing him in the wrong in all ways including retaliation by a landlord and unlawful entry and burglary among other things. In the last week, he cut off the water of the house because he didn't pay the bill. Constructive Eviction at best along with trespassing, harassment, retaliation, verbal threats (to credit, defamation of character, slander), burglary and unethical practices. I am afraid of what he will do to me, my dog and my living area. He already threatened to find my new residence so he could intentionally sabotage me, cause harm and ruin my life. I don't tolerate bullies or slumlords.
