The following informaton you will read is known only to the professional polygraph community as a current problem, as well as some in the licensed P.I. community from which he was tossed out / license revoked in 10/02.
Like many con men out there who have effected both micro and macro markets they work their frauds in as parasites in hurting the public, this guy has taken it to a new level.
I am sending you a link to two such recent stories on a professional polygraph examiner website ( PolygraphPlace.com ) which has written about one such phony person who is in the L.A. area as mentioned, and who advertises and performs such testing without the needed background or training. He further has in place a current pyramid scheme where he creates new pseudo-examiners accross the USA from a 40 pound box he mails them, gives them the web based cover of a Trojan horse meaningless organization of PEOA (Polygraph Examiners of America), and then he uses these same new instant
Pseudo-Examiners as a "Schills" from which he extracts fees as a component of the pyramid scheme. The result is the "would be" new pseudo-examiner is duped by mail fraud by paying $845.00 for the "Polygraph Academy in a Box", and pushed into performing tests they really can't begin to do to recoup their loss of over $5,000.00. Further, the member of the public / consumer is duped by the cover of the organization Grogan provides (PEOA) and the geographic area recommended pseudo-examiner in a Web based house of cards. Further, no less than a half dozen household name celebrity types, and their Attorneys, have been fooled by this pretend polygraph examiner and are his further victims. Example: Comedian Joan Rivers, Singer Donny Osmond, Child Actor Michael Knight (Peter Brady), and baseball player legend Jose Canseco + more !!!

Impossible !!!! There are no Doogie Housers in the polygraph profession !!!

Wow! Sounds as if you had a bad experience and are throwing the baby out with the bath water. Polygraph is admissible in several states and can be used in many others with the consent of the parties. You even comment on its use:

So what should have been a comment about John Grogan's ripoff of my friend's money through his incompetence has turned out to be a tongue lashing of the industry.
Grogan ripped off my girlfriend with his "over the phone" voice stress analyzer. Was she dumb for attempting to prove her innocence to her family on a personal issue using this individual: yes.
Lesson learned. Avoid Grogan and his attempts to dislodge money from your pockets.

I WAS ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED TO END THE TERRORISM OF UNETHICAL POLYGRAPHERS AND THE SCUM WHO HIRED THEM SO THEY COULD CIRCUMVENT THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IN EMPLOYMENT LAW.
I DON'T THINK MUCH OF POLYGRAPHS AFTER THAT FAKE EXAMINATION THAT WAS SET UP TO WEED ME OUT! GOOD THING I ALREASY HAD A JOB WHEN I VOLUNTEERED TO BE PART OF THAT CONTROL GROUP THAT TOOK THE EXAM TO VERIFY THAT DISCRIMINATION BASED ON AGE,GENDER, COLOR,RACE AND ETHNICITY WAS IN FACT GOING ON(IT WAS). ALL WE HAD TO HAVE AS A STANDARD OF PROOF WAS PREPONDERANCE OF THE EVIDENCE AND THE SCUMBAG POLYGRAPH OPERATOR GUY AND THE SLEAZEBAG SCUM WHO HIRED HIM WERE FRIED!
I AM SURPRISED THAT SO MANY PEOPLE WHO OUGHT TO KNOW BETTER ARE STILL BEING CONNED BY THE PSEUDOSCIENTIFIC PARLOR GAME, CHEAP TRICK AMUSEMENT THAT HAS WRECKED I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY LIVES AND CAREERS...
IT IS NOT ADMISSABLE IN COURT AND AS A RESULT OF THE SMALL ROLE I PROUDLY PLAYED ---THE DAMNABLE THING CAN NOT LONGER BE ADMINISTERED IN PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTS --EXCEPT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CERTAIN OTHER HIGH-SECURITY JOBS AND THE EMPLOYER OF THOSE HAS TO NOTIFY YOU IN ADVANCE.
