John Moore Services OVERCHARGE - TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ELDERLY Houston, Texas

I have been a plumber for over 35 years. I know the cost of service and the work involved. My mother is 82 years old and legally blind. She discovered water on the floor of her bathroom and called John Moore Plumbing. The service tech came to the house - informed her it was the wax bowl ring - opened a price book and quoted her $299.95 to replace it. She thought it was a very serious situation the way he described it. I happen to know that the part is under 50 cents wholesale and can be purchased at any home center for $1.29.

His total time at the house was 45 minutes. I believe any company should be allowed to make a fair and decent profit. Even if the service call was $100 and there was 500% markup on the part - it would STILL be under $150. I live in a different city or the call would never have been made to them. This is outrageous and don't think for a minute that the thieves are on the streets. We invite them into our homes. They DID give her a "Senior Citizen Discount" - she only had to pay them $285. My next visit is a letter to the Attorney General's office before there is a freeze in Houston and people like my mom get ripped off for pipe repairs from this bunch. SHAME ON JOHN MOORE PLUMBING!
