**WARNING-**PLEASE AVOID THIS LAWYER AT ALL COSTS. I retained him for $2500 dollars to fight a restraining order which was easily dropped without his help. After that he promised that he could help me on my custody/support case for my 4 yr old daughter saying he could get me 50/50 custody with no problem but i would have to pay him the retainer balance within 24 hrs or he couldn't do it. I only paid $2000 up front and his office called me non- stop for the next week to collect the rest.
Once he collected the remaining $2000 he suddenly became impossible to get a hold of and would not return my phone calls or even provide an email address! When he finally did show up for court he was completely unprepared and 30 mins late almost leaving me to defend myself. Then he didn't even show up for my child support hearing!! I ended up seeing my daughter even less than I had before I retained him! PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS INCOMPETENT SCUMBAG. I ended up gaining better results and seeing my daughter more by defending myself. He has had so many problems with the judges in South Lake and they are aware that he is a fraud so you will have no chance if you hire him.

Please report this incident to the california State Bar. He is still on probation with them, and the bar needs to know anything Mr Morgenstern does that is wrong against his clients. You should have read the bar court documents before you hired him. They are public record. He talks a big talk and then walks away without doing his job. In my opinion, and many others in Lake Tahoe, he is incompetent and will never take responsibility for any of his own actions. Now file a report with the Bar please.
Ask him for a accounting of the money and see if he put it in his trust fund. Ask him for a copy of your file and let the bar know you have made the request. Must be certified mail return receipt request.

JORDAN RICHARD MORGENSTERN [#134046], 53, of South Lake Tahoe was suspended for one year, stayed, placed on two years of probation and was ordered to take the MPRE within a year. The order took effect May 14, 2011.Morgenstern stipulated to five acts of misconduct in four matters, including failures to account for client funds, refund unearned fees, return a client file or perform legal services competently.He did not account for a clients advance $35,000 fee for more than nine months, did not refund another clients $2,500 advance fee for more than five months or anothers $5,000 fee for four years. Morgenstern was hired by a couple to handle planning and zoning issues and although he knew they had not exhausted all their administrative remedies and werent time-barred from pursuing those remedies, he filed a civil suit. Because he never stated a cause of action, the court sustained the defendants demurrer without leave to amend. He didnt return the entire file to the client for more than a year.
