In April of 2010 I was robbed by Joey "scumbag" Richko. He posted an add on Craigslist for (2) 35 yardline tickets in section 140, 9 rows from the field for $2500 with parking. Naturally, I was concerned about this deal seeing as it seemed to good to be true. So, prior to signing this contract I had numerous conversations with him as well as text messages. I verified his home address as well as verifying his cell number was issued to a Joe Richko. I never thought in a million years someone would scam another person using their real name. After signing the contract, I wrote a personal check to him from our joint checking account in the amount of $1250, which is half of the agreed amount for the season tickets. Although he agreed to meet with me personally, I had it sent certified mail due to the fact I felt comfortable that he is who he said he was. Within a couple days he signed for the check and a few days after that it was withdrawn from our account. Throughout the next few weeks I stayed in contact with him via email, phone and text. He acted like everything was normal and even said he had another set of tickets on the other side of the stadium if I knew of anyone else who was interested. Last Monday (6/28) I sent him a text to get an idea as to when he would be receiving the ticketsno response. I tried calling him on Tuesday and his phone stated the Verizon customer you are trying to reach is unavailable right now.  Throughout the week I sent him a few more texts along with a couple emails and still no response. Finally, last Monday I googled Joseph Richko Chicago and thats when I saw the numerous articles regarding these scams.

Despite the fact I lost over $1200, I am more upset that I fell for this con. I have always felt I had a knack for reading people and thought I was street smart when it came to scams and cons. I always kind of chuckled when I read about people that fall for these scams, thinking "how could someone be so nave.?" So instead of sitting 9th row on the 35 yard line watching Peppers light up QB's this season, I will be sitting at home stewing over how I got swindled by some lowlife con artist name Joey Richko.

Any advice you can give me or if there is anyone out there considering buying tickets from someone like this...don't.  If anyone knows of any pending lawsuits regarding this guy or if there is any chance of redeeming any of my money please contact me.

Seriously?

AUTHOR: Big Tony - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, September 30, 2010

Ok I am sympathetic to all of you who have lost your money.  Let me ask you this, how stupid are you to actually believe that a person will sell Bears season tickets for such a low price.  You actually gave a person money to give you something that wasn't in hand at that very moment?  Seriously what the hell were you all thinking.  You know what year it is and you know that this day in age you can obviously trust NO ONE!  This guy should pay you back but you might as well figure it a loss because s it seems you will never get it back.  I feel bad for all of you but you must be extremely stupid and naive.  I hope you have learned from this and hopfully your not stupid enough to do it again.  You hope there is a chance to redeem your money but guess what, it's gone.

A 2009 Victim

AUTHOR: Veliksta1 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, August 28, 2010

I was a victim of Joey Richko's from 2009.  Same deal with Bears tickets except I never stopped bothering him for months about never getting the tickets (I paid a $1,600 deposit).  I threatened to go to the police so many times that he eventually (September 2009) sent me a $1,000 Money Order and it surprisingly cleared.  I thought for sure that I would get nothing back, so when I received the $1,000 I pretty much gave up the chase and figured it wasn't worth going to the police over the remaining $600.

Please let me know if anyone needs any more evidence.  I have a copy of a bogus check that he sent me, I have the legitamit money order he sent, I have a number of photos of him, a copy of his State ID, and some other things.  My stake in this, at this point is only $600, so I'm not as motivated as a lot of you, but I have happy to help out.

Joey the Sct cammer

AUTHOR: Ripped Off - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 13, 2010

I also have a report against Joey along with numerous others. I am in the same boat with you, I Googled his name prior to buying the tickets and couldn't find a negative thing about him. I called the Bears organization and they could not reveal who the owner of the tickets were since I was not the owner. I took a shot in the dark and signed his "valid" contract and cut him a check only to find out a few months later he is a scammer. I know there are lawsuits against him and he is in jail at the time with warrants from 3 other counties. It is just sad that he would do this people. He gave me a copy of his ID card and I figured he was a genuine guy, not a slime ball. It sucks that he scammed all these people out of money and it is really going to suck when I am sitting on my couch watching the Bears while he has my money!!!!!!!

Karma.....
