I have been a customer of Juniper MasterCard for several years and have never been late on a payment. I have always paid my account in full, or substantially over the minimum payment required. I repeatedly receive offers from Juniper (AKA Barclaycard) to take advantages of pre-printed checks offering low APR. Today I received a letter from their card services department stating that: Due to a recent late payment, we are increasing the interest rates on your account. I use their card only because it offers a reasonable interest rate of 8.99%. They are now increasing my interest rate to 30.24%. After attempting to contact their customer service agent (locate somewhere in India or Philippines) the agent stated that my payment was not received by the due date of 4/14/2010, that is was received on 4/15/2010. I verified that they actually received my payment on 4/14 however did not process it until 4/15 (it cleared my bank on 4/14). When I requested to speak with a supervisor or manager, I was told there was not one available and I could leave my name and number for a supervisor to contact me with 72 hours?????

Obviously this company does not care about retaining good credit customers (which my credit score is 790) and treats you like an insignificant cog in their great big machine. This practice is not only unacceptable but I would speculate on the border line of being unlawful. How can a company hold payment for 1 day, and then have the audacity to charge a customer almost 4 times the original interest rate.  They market cards for many airlines as: Airtran, US Airways, Midwest Express, Frontier, Carnival Cruise Lines, China Airlines, Lufthansa, and many more. From what I have read their air miles rewards are misleading and untruthful. This Company is a scam and rip off.  I will close this account and never do business or promote their services to anyone.  I will also research every legal avenue to expose their practices to the Attorney Generals Office of PA, as well as the BBB. If you have their card, do yourself a favor and cut it up. This Company is misleading, fraudulent and a sham.
