Just Brakes1103 N. Loop 336 West Conroe, Texas United States of America
I called Just Brakes and they told me that I would only have to pay $99.00 plus tax to get my brakes fixed. They told me I had to make an appointment so when I get there they can put my car right in. I got to Just Brakes and only 1 other car was there so why did I have to make an appointment?
The mechanic told me he and another mechanic would look over my brakes and tell me what needs to be done. Before I went there my friend who knows about cars told me after looking at the brakes himself that I only needed new brakes in the front, nothing else. Well, the mechanic told me to go with him to see my minivan and the brake problems. He said, "I will run you through a brief class on brakes and this will explain what is wrong with your brakes." He threw out all these "mechanical" parts and what they did and how my minivan did NOT meet the proper driving standards and that in order to be able to drive my minivan away they had to change the calipers, caliper pistons, bleed the brake system, change the front break pads and whatever else goes with the brakes to make them work properly. My minivan is only 20 months old and I told him this and he told me that minivans are notorious for wearing down heavily on the breaks and causing even more problems then just the brakes. He also told me that the warranty on new vehicles is only to 12 months so if I brought my minivan to the dealer I would have to pay a whole lot more then the $397 plus tax that Just Brakes was going to charge me. He told me that if I don't get the calipers and caliper pistons done that the warranty on my brakes would be void. He then told me as we were walking away from my minivan that the other mechanic already started working on the brakes before I agreed to the work.
I had to pay over $400 for a brake job that should have only cost me $99 ... I even asked if there was any coupons to help ease the high cost of the brakes and the mechanic told me that there were no coupons and that he could not help me.
I got home and told my friend what they charged me and showed him the receipt and he became outraged. He looked over the bill and told me Just Brakes ripped me off and why. He told me that if my minivan had caliper problems at 14,200 miles that this would have been a factory problem and to bring the minivan back to the dealer, because no vehicle should need calipers with such low mileage. He suggested I call and put in a complaint and I called Just Brakes headquarters and spoke with a man in human resources and told him I got ripped off. I also told him that on the paperwork it states that 3 mechanics worked on my minivan...one mechanic fixed it, one drove it and one did the paperwork, yet there were only 2 workers there ... and I know this because I was there the whole time and ONLY saw 2 mechanics. The human resources person told me he would look into it.
The HR person called me back about 5 days later and told me that he investigated the claim and that I did deserve to get money back. I just got a check for $266.65 from the HR person and I know they paid me back for the calipers and caliper pistons that did NOT need to be replaced or repaired.
Don't let them take your money, fight back and make your voice be heard to get money back from the company and be persistant. I will NEVER go back to Just Brakes, because they are crooks and thieves and don't deserve to get paid for any service they offer.
