Just Breaks " Main Head Quarters " John Fielder & Perry Cloud ? 3810 W. Northwest Hwy. STE. 240 Dallas, Texas 75220 1-800-445-7105 Texas and Arizona

Just Breaks charging for work not needed The following is a letter my wife and I sent to Just breaks.

Why was it so hard to find out who ownes this company when we called on the telephone? What are you people hiding?

Your company record and reputation as satisfying your customer complaints stinks. Your consumer affairs dept. needs a class on how to deal with consumers. We have heard complaints about your business practices in your home state as well as many other states.

This is a case where your people made a very bad mistake and we use the term loosely. Besides from doing a shoddy job at best, your people told me that we needed new Wheel Cylinders, that they were leaking and the list goes on for repairs your people claimed we needed. You have the receipt.

Hours after we got stuck and had to be towed they, the dealership discovered the vice grips your mechanic left clamped onto the break line destroying our whole break system. We showed the dealership your receipt. Every item you said that needed to be repaired was a lie.

We then went to another independent garage and ask them to check the items your store Just Breaks stated needed to be repaired. They too said your people lied.

Your employees (managers) both verified that your employee did leave the vice grips on the break system and that the employee that made the mistake was fired. That was a lie too. They also stated that you Mr. Fielding took care of this reimbursement for our expenses months ago. Then we kept calling you by phone more than 30 times. We never got a response from you or anyone else.

We have spoken with other Just Break store employees. They have very damaging statements they have made. Very damaging. In short they said, don't hold your breath for any type of reimbursement. All we want is for your company to do a full reimbursement including all expenses we incurred totaling $1,200.00 That includes the replacing of our break system, the towing and the time we got stuck and could not make it to work and had to pay a baby sitter.

After 4 months of hounding you for reimbursement, You have the nerve to send $387.66. This does not come close to the repairs that were needed just to fix what your store did, this is an insult. Why haven't you called us back ever!

I'm glad I checked here first

AUTHOR: Tony - (U.S.A.)

I am about to have some work done on my brakes and I was looking up just brakes on the internet to find a location. When I read all of these post I decided to not even use just brakes. Why should it be a crap shoot to see weather or not you get an honest "manager" or not. I'd just as soon stay away from a corporation like this because my brief stint in the corporate world has taught me that if there is one bad apple in the barrel it will spoil them all. Thanks to all for the warnings.

Do it your self

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

The front pads on my 3/4 ton truck cost about $25.00 at a auto parts store. I can put them on in 10 to 15 min. So why go let someone rip you off.

Your own parts I don't know if the manager is supposed to do this

AUTHOR: D - (U.S.A.)

I don't know if the manager is supposed to do this, but the Just Brakes in my area lets me furnish my own parts if I sign a no warranty waiver. I spent $100 labor to have my entire brake system redone. The pads were bad, the rotors scored, and a caliper was frozen on a BMW. I spent $125 in parts at the local parts store. $100 was worth saving the headache of doing it myself.

Just Brakes Do Rip You Off. have them put it in writting then go to the next shop down the street and have them do it then show just brakes the work order

AUTHOR: Ryan - (U.S.A.)

Yes, Just Brakes do rip you off. I am a college student and my wife and I needed a brake job on our late model car. I took it into just brakes and asked for their 99.00 special.

In a professional mannor they gave me recomendation on what I ought to repair. I told them that all I wanted was the 99.00 special. He then said we have to replace dthe rotors, he said it was state mandate, (coem to find out it is not) and he coudl nto start the work unless I told him he coudl replace teh rotors. I then asked how much the rotors woudl cost. He stated it would be $ 75.00 to replace them plus the 99.00 for the brake job. I agreed and left my car with them for the rest of the day.

When I returned to the shop I was supprised to see the bill. he had quoted me 99.00 plus the cost of the rotors which would be 175.00 plus tax. I saw the bill and it was for a bit over 250.00. I asked what the added amount was for. He then explained that the rotors were 75.00 each and that he explained that to me very clearly. I cant tell you how mad I was afterall I am a college student and dont have tha tkind of money laying around. I proceeed to arguye with him and all he kept saying is you can pay the bill or you can leave the car to me.

Needless to say I paid the bill.

I think the next time i need a brake job I will go to just brakes and have them put it in writting then go to the next shop down the street and have them do it then show just brakes the work order then send both the just brakes estimate and the recipt from the palced i get them done to the BBU.

Jennifer, the date doesn't matter. Just Brakes used underhanded sales tactics and did unnecessary repairs

AUTHOR: Pat - (U.S.A.)

So what it was in June. It still says that Just Brakes used underhanded sales tactics and did unnecessary repairs. For over a year, undercover agents went to Just Brakes with perfectly functioning brake systems (checked out by certified mechanics just prior to going to the stores) and asked for the $99.88 Friction Re-Line Special, and they were charged for unnecessary repairs.

It won't be long before they are investigated in all the states in which they operate, and are put out of business.

Make sure you dust off your husband's resum and have it ready to send out.

P.S. - You may want to leave off the fact that he worked for Just Brakes. Just stop, and think about it.

Hey Steve, check your dates.

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

If you would have read the report in the Tampa Bay Business Journal a little better, Just Brakes was served earlier this year not last Wednesday, as you put . Check your dates Stevie boy! Again I will say, there are SOME managers which only care about the money they put in their pockets. Then there are some that care about not ripping people off, you people that do not state which stores, or which employees you personally dealt with are hurting the ones that DO NOT try to ripp people off. Please just keep that in mind.

Tired of dummies! some of the managers at Just Brakes do add on items that in actually do not need to be repaired.

AUTHOR: Jennifer - (U.S.A.)

I have heard from several people that some of the managers at Just Brakes do add on items that in actually do not need to be repaired. I also know there are some managers that do not allow that and will treat people with respect, that do give refunds if they mess up a job.

That only want to fix what is wrong in oreder to keep consumers and their children safe in vehicles, because they have children of their own and understand that not eyeryone has hundreds of dollars to fix their brake systems. Then they figure out what they basically have to have repaired to be able to stop.

I hear all the time about managers of individual stores that complain about consumers that want their brakes repaired for $99.88 because that is what they hear advertised, but most people (and shade tree mechanics) do not get that if you do not have certain parts repaired that are starting to go bad, then down the road it will cost even more to fix the problem, because it was not all repaired when suggested.

So when it does all break it will cost alot more than originally suggested, because now it is all messed up more than before, when it should have been repaired totally the initial time. THESE ARE YOUR BRAKES PEOPLE, hello they are pretty important! I would rather someone I trust repair them than some shade tree mechanic or brother. Someone that has done alot of repairs other than, if I can take it apart I can fix it.

Yes I have heard of bad people at Just Brakes, but you should check around several places first and compare. The company has changed since 1998.
P.O.ed Wife at managers that do add parts that do NOT need replacing, they are depleteing the paychecks of the ones that do the job right, and are honest with the consumer. You should specify the managers that are doing your crappy work, not the whole company.

Just Brakes Rips People off Garland, Texas too

AUTHOR: Co - (U.S.A.)

Last summer when I came in to have my brake pads checked, I was driving a flashy Honda Accord, the one's youngsters drive. I am a naive guy and when they told me that my CV Boot have broken and they have to charge extra for my brakes. I was stunned that they will charge $750 dollars for everything. There I was 17 years old, didn't know anything and drives a flashy car. I was dumb enough to okay the bill. When I told my brother about the situation, he was furious at me and the people at Just Brakes. I'm telling you he bited my head off. He went to the place they told him about some BS about they have to fix the axle, but I didn't know better that I can fix my CV Boot for about less than $200 each. They charged me $250 each for CV Boot, $350 for brakes and stuff, and $100 for pads. That is one MESS UP PLACE. DO NEVER EVER BRING YOUR CAR TO JUST BRAKES!!! They'll do you like they do me. Anyways, my brother argued and they said they can't change the bill and they are doing the axle. My older brother shaked his head and pitch in $500 for me to pay that thing off. I have learned my lesson. I have ripped off by JUST BRAKES and their service was CRAP!! they messed up my sideskirts and kept me waiting for 4 hours, that is some shit.. I owed my bro $500, and JUST BRAKES owed me $750.

Just Brakes Almost Got Us

AUTHOR: Brian - ()

My wife dropped off her car at Just Brakes because we just had new pads installed and they were making a grinding noise after 9 months. When they called to tell her it would be $400 to fix the problem I took the phone. He explained the caliper had frozen and ground the pads to nothing and now she needed a new rotor, pads and caliper. I said I would be right there to pick the car up and he insisted it should not be driven because it would be metal on metal boiling the fluid and resulting in brake failure. This made no sense to me being a former mechanic. I had driven the car recently and did not know of such a brake failure to happen over night. They were lying. I took the car to another brake shop and nothing was even wrong with the brakes. Like new he said, the noise will go away. Be careful.
