I would like to make everyone aware, that the care this transport service gives is completely awful, and inhumane!
My puppies arrived covered in their own feces, and urine from head to toe, immaciated, and dehydrated. First of all the agreed upon time span for the transport was changed frequently throughout the entire trip. Doug called me several times with multiple excuses for delays, and different arrival dates. Every time it was something different, with the last being "his niece dying", however this was NOT the case. Just another false statement to try to hold me over from from making a complaint. That alone disgusted me!
My poor pups looked so awful, it broke my heart to think of what they all endured on this nightmare of a journey!
I also peered inside his van packed, and stacked with kennels containing multiple dogs and puppies, and as it seemed to me, the other animals were in the same condition, or close to it as mine appeared to be. His policy is "No puppy touches the ground", I understand this for parasite, or disease relation, but at least stop along the way to clean these poor animals crates. I also understand that a ground transporter would commonly "cut down" on the animals food, to prevent them from messing in crates as much as they are able to, but I don't believe the animal should arrive with their rib cage showing, and so thirsty they could drink a lake.
If your concerned about the puppy touching the ground, but yet leave them all in your van next to one another with their crate, and themselves full of feces, then what exactly is your reasoning behind this idea? It seems to me, it would make no difference. Dogs will transfer most feared epidemics through their fecal matter, and these poor animals on the transport are surrounded by it. I was very concerned with my puppies, and took them to the vet the very next morning as I crossed my fingers for a negative on any health issue. Parvo was my biggest concern after seeing what I saw! With no exaggeration the putrid smell that stemmed from his vehicle was enough to make someone vomit, as was the smell of my pups.
I had to monitor the puppies eating and drinking due to the lack on Doug's behalf, as they would have savagely taken in enough water, and food for 4 days in a row, within a few minutes.
I won't even mention how long it took me to get them cleaned up!
As he was going to leave I asked him about the items sent with the puppies, and the food container was almost untouched! That explains why they were so thin.
He himself admitted to me that they were in a poor state, and told me he would not charge me if I kept quiet. Well I decided not to, as I fear for future animals this man transports.
Doug is cheaper on his rates, and I understand that's why many use him, but I would have paid 4x his rate to keep my little pups from going through what they did. I'm still in utter shock!
I would not be surprised if he has been, or will in the future (if not investigated) be the cause of the death of a dear pet. Someone needs to intervene, or monitor this shipper if he continues this line of work!
For the sake of the animals!
