We bought a brand new KHOV home in June 2008. KHOV had a relatively good reputation around here, they built in regular neighborhoods - like where we bought - as well as higher end homes, so we were confident we were buying a decent home. Needless to say, it has been one issue after another. Not long after we moved - July to be exact - we had an issue with our AC, bad enough that KHOV had to us up in a hotel. And if you know anythimg about Texas summers, you know it gets hot. KHOV had it repaired, something about the wiring on the outside unit, the only unit we have for a 3,700 sq ft house, which they assured us was big enough, it is a dual zone unit.

Our fault for not verifying with an expert, which KHOV is not. The AC made it through the rest of the summer fine, so we were fine. Until August 2009, when the unit went out again right after our one year warrnty period with them expired. KHOV agreed to pay for the repairs, but we are now two for two in summer breakdowns. The unit worked fine until June 2010, when it broke down once again. We called KHOV, and I guess knowing the history thry had it repaired. This time we requested a new unit, to which they replied no. We went through this again in 2011 and 2012, and each time KHOV paid for the repairs.

We even went to the maunfacturer - Amana - and were told we needed to  go to the installer and get them to replace it since KHOV refused. Wouldn't you know, the installer was no longer in business, apparently KHOV did not vet their sub-contractors very well. According to some of our neighbors, they were having the same issue. And just to be clear, we change our air filter about every 45 days and have annual service, so it's not like we abused the system. In June 2013, begore our five year warranty expired, we contacted KHOV, fearing we would have another issue that summer, to request again a new unit - which would be cheaper than having to fix it each year - and even wrote a letter.

Again we were told NO, and the unit crashed again. That was the last time they paid for the repairs. It is 2014, and we have had the srvice company out here four times since July to repair our unit. Now, we could go buy a new unit, but we have been told by everyone that has been out for repairs, a unit should last a good ten to fifteen years, and we are barely half way to the low end and shouldn't have seen this many issues. KHOV is all about presenting a quality product, and we bought into it. Turns out their product is nothing more than cheaply made and cheaply crafted, and I didn't even get into the other issues with the house. Buyer beware!!!
