I am a twenty year breeder of Siberian Huskies. I am always looking for new stock to breed. I saw an ad on puppy find. Melisa Smith was selling a pie bald husky, which is a very rare color. This puppy was suppose to be C.K.C. registered. I drove to Ashville to pick this puppy up. I paid 400.00.

When I picked up this pup, the breeder had no paperwork and she told me she would mail it to me. This pup was nine weeks old when I bought her. Then Melisa proceeds to tell me that she is acting as a broker ( and has no broker license) for another breeder and she did not physically breed this pup and that is why she has no paperwork.

Well this pup is now seven months old and I have no paperwork. I have contacted Melisa and she has been very crappy to me about the whole situation. Now she says "you bought a pet quality, not a breeding quality" Well this pup has ears like a collie, they are long and do not stand up, where Huskies ears are short and stand up at a young age. This dog does not resemble a husky at all, it doesn't even howl like all my others do. I will have to take this lady to court to get my money back. Please do not buy a pup from her or you too will be ripped off. Melisa is giving Siberian Huskies breeders a bad name.

She also has a review of 4 stars on her ad. This is not so the person that did the review is her partner, because anyone that has bought a dog from her I am sure is not happy with the outcome. Beware of her....

Registratio papers sent and recieved.

AUTHOR: Melisa - ()

POSTED: Sunday, December 15, 2013

Just as the sales contract stated the AKC papers were mailed as soon as they were recieved.  If any correspondences were less than professional it would have been due to the lack of patience and understanding that they would be mailed once they were recieved.   The initial replies to Christine were more than courteous and always thanking her for her patience.  While it did take longer than usual she was asked to contact AKC to verify what she was being told was true.  After which she did come here and file another report saying the nice things she did about her pup.  Thank you Christine for doing that.  Now that you have papers and a great dog I hope this can be put behind us.  Melisa

receiving akc papers

AUTHOR: thegirlbilly - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, June 04, 2013

Ive personally talked to the AKC regarding my personal situation with k-9 Pines and they stated there is an ongoing inquiry with k-9 Pines and the matter should be resolved within a few weeks and Ms Smith is cooperating with the AKC. All I want are papers for my dog and that is indeed what I will be getting. I personally will never do business with k-9 Pines again, however in all fairness the dog I have couldnt be a more perfect pet, shes sweet, loving, wonderful temperment, and intelligent so as far as her breeding skills I will say she has great dogs, she (Ms Smith) needs some lessons in manners and professional behavior. This was about paperwork never about the dog I wouldnt trade my dog for anything.

It has been six months and I STILL don't have my AKC papers for my puppy

AUTHOR: thegirlbilly - ()

POSTED: Saturday, May 11, 2013

There is not much to say except I've had my German Shepherd Puppy since NOVEMBER and Melisa said she would get the papers out to me, it is now MAY and I still don't have papers. Upon speaking to other German Shepherd breeders they've said this is NOT the norm and I should have them by now. Melisa also doesn't let you see the parents... a red flag to a PUPPY MILL all German Shepherd breeders I've talked to have said they let you see the parents of the pup you are buying. Granted my GSD is pet quality but I paid $500.00 dollars for her and that is a huge amount to my family. I paid for a German Shepherd with papers and still don't have papers. Filing complaints with the AKC and also hiring an attorney sad people like this profit and commit fraud and get away with it. Christine McCort

My 17 year old daughter did a lot of research on finding just the right pet for her. After weeks of research she made a deposit on a Husky from K9-pines. We set a date to pick up the dog. We are very impressed and very proud of the new member of our family. Melissa was very informative on what we need to do. The transaction went perfect and was well planned. We could not be more happy. We have already taken the Husky to the vet we have used for years. They immedialty fell in love and said we seem to a great dog and in very top noch shape. This was an important decision for my daughter, and we could not be happier with the outcome. Thanks again to K9-pines.

You dont know what you are talking about.

Melisa is not a rip-off or anything neg. that you say about her. She is a responsible person. if she told you what happend then take it as that. if you didnt want the dog then you shuldnt have took it. if you are such a breeder for 20 years as you said then you would have known the right questions to ask or what to look for on the puppy. One bad experience doesnt make her out to be what you think about her. i have gotten dogs from her in the past and they have all been good quality pets and they. also they were very beautiful. sounds like you have a nice dog yourself even if she didnt breed it herself.

Why dont you try to work with her and find where the source is and work from that instead of SLANDERING her for masses of people to see.

Happy Buyer

AUTHOR: Rick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 12, 2007

I would like to comment on this report and K-9 Pines Kennels. Although I don't know nor have I been involved in anyway with the purchase this report specifies I have had dealings with Ms. Smith and her kennel. I previously owned a husky that sadly to say we lost.

Upon researching our next purchase and viewing a number of different breeds my wife and I decided to try another husky. I searched the papers and internet for breeders. One thing we found was that we really liked the looks of the Wooly Husky. I called 3 different so called professional breeders up and down the east coast.

Once letting them know what we were looking for I was given lectures on how any Husky breeder is infecting the breed and that no respectable breeder would raise them. We to these folks I say Hog Wash.

There are 2 different reasons people purchase dogs, show or pets. We were looking for a pet. Secondly if these wooly breeders are infecting the breed then why are the recognized with both the AKC and the CKC. Seems to me at least the AKC would not let them in. Any how.

I call K-9 Pines and spoke with Melisa. I explained that we had done our home work but had some unanswered questions. She said she would be more than happy to answer any that we had. At the time my wife was not home and Melisa stated we could call her back when both of us could talk to her. We did and spoke with her for more than 2 hours. She explained everything and then some about the breed and we were VERY satisfied with her business like domineer. If I was not I would not have made the 20 hour round trip to pick up my puppy Simba.

We arrived and viewed the puppy. We then took possession and Melisa gave us a complete packet on the dog. This included papers, receipt, feeding instruction, husky care and shot records. She also gave us a puppy kit. Once home I registered my dog with the AKC and have been very happy with him. For Simba second birthday we decided to get him a female husky. Once again we went BACK to Melisa and purchased a standard all white female and completed the 20 hour trip. Like before we got the packet and professionalism we received the first time.

When it was time we mate the 2 one time and they turned a very nice litter. We then proceed to have them both fixed and keep a daughter who was fixed also. All 3 of the dogs are very fit and beautiful no matter what people think of my male wooly. I would HIGHLY recommend to anybody looking for a husky to give Melisa and K-9 Pines a look. I don't think you will be disappointed.

The persom below is not a breeder of Siberian Huskies for 20 years. If she is she started when she was 10 or 12.

I on the other hand have been a breeder for 13 years with documentation to back it.

The person who wrote the above letter is a buyer who told me she was purchasing this puppy as a pet. She then got upset when the pet quality puppy was not a breeding quality puppy. I had no idea she is a back yard breeder. If anyone should be upset it should be me. She lied about who she was and what she wanted the puppy for.

I am not a broker. I raise and sell quality Siberian Huskies. I do not sell huskies for other breeders. If there is a physical problem with the puppy the buyer knows it. If there is a genetic that is harmful to the puppy we replace it.

The person who wrote the letter signed a sales contract stating sold as a 'pet' so she knew this puppy was pet quality.

My reputation is strong and it upsets me that this site allows unfounded claims as this one from this person who is the one that tried to scam me by saying she was looking for a pet not a dog to breed.

Visit our personal website and judge for yourself we have quality Huskies and are proud of our reputation. www.k9-pines.com

Thank you, Melisa Smith Saluda NC
