I paid this "law firm" $4500.00, upfront, to represent me in a dui case. I was innocent, and after firing the kavinoky law firm, the good people at the Sacramento County Public Defender's Office made this abundantly clear to the DA and the Judge and the case was subsequently dismissed.
Mr. Michael Meehan, took over 1 year to give me the prosecution's evidence. Then, he did not inform me of a hearing I needed to attend, so a warrant was issued for my arrest. At the same hearing, he filed a motion to be recused as my attorney!!! Then, a few months later, I appeared in court and, when my case was called, another attorney whom I had never met, stood before the judge on my behalf and told her that Mr. Meehan had informed him that I would not be coming to court!!!! I informed the Judge of my presence and the case was continued.
I called Mr. Meehan (he didn't answer) and left him a message recounting what had occurred. I then received a letter in the mail a few weeks later from Mr. Meehan. In it, he informed me that I did not attend the hearing and that it was he who attended the hearing. Furthermore, he stated that it was he who got the case continued and convinced the judge not to issue another warrant for my arrest. Later, he claimed that the had mistakenly poorly edited a prior letter that he had sent me. However, I have a voicemail from him, which he left AFTER his poorly edited letter claim, where he again reiterates that I was not at the hearing!!! Anyway, these people did nothing for me except getting a warrant issued for my arrest and costing me $4500.00 to do so.

Wow, after reading that rebuttal, where do I begin? The most poignant aspect of the Kavinoky Law Firm's rebuttal was that they refused to actually respond to anything I wrote. The fact is that they have no defense, so they are trying to obfuscate the situation rather than actually responding to my complaint. This always happens when someone is LYING and doesn't have a defensible position: they attempt to focus the spotlight somewhere else. The Kavinoky Law firm didn't respond to my complaint because I have told the truth their actions were indefensible. The fact that they claim they did any work is laughable. Mr. Meehan said that the DA was offering me 4 days jail, 10 Sheriff's Work Project, and fines to plead guilty to DUI. This is the standard punishment for a 2nd DUI, no attorney needed to get this "deal". Mr. Meehan told me the lies about the judge in an attempt to get me to fork over $5,000.00 more for him to represent me at trial!!!These people are thieves and liars; go with the public defenders office-they actually get results.
