Bought a 2011 Teryx Recreation Utility Vehicle in August, 2011. It continuously uses more oil than needed. Have taken it back to the dealer that I purchased it from. They cannot find a reason for this. After returning the Teryx for repair for 3rd or 4th time, dealer phoned Kawasaki for further instruction. Kawasaki told the dealer to check air breather and any possible leaks around engine. Found gaskets and seals were leaking a small amount; repaired, but continued to leak. Compression test was good. After this was completed, I returned the Teryx 3 or 4 more times due to same issues.
After getting no satisfaction from the original dealer and the Teryx still having the same issues and by suggestin of Kawasaki, I took Teryx to another dealer. On the first appointment, Kawasaki informed the dealer to change oil. Was told to take it home and run it 100 miles and return it. After going approximately 60 miles, oil was registering below the mark on the dip stick. Took it back in for further repair.
Dealer tore Teryx down and found that the valve seal popped off and scarring on piston. Contacted Kawasaki and Kawasaki stated they would repair the valve seal, but the scarring on piston was lack of maintainence and refused to repair this. If this was the problem, it is hard to believe that two dealers were unable to locate and repair this. Both dealers stated they followed Kawasaki's recommendations.
Kawasaki refuses to believe the Teryx issues are faulty; they place blame on operators. When operators told them that the Teryx was driven mainly on the road, Kawasaki stated the Teryx was equipment for road travel. Kawasaki also stated that it was not meant to be driven wide-open. Never was this machine driven this way. It is felt that Kawasaki is at fault, but will not assist owner in correcting the issues.
