In March 2005 Kay Jewelers replaced the battery on my Pulsar watch for $12.95 which provided me with a lifetime battery warranty. On November 20, 2006 I brought the watch in for a new battery. Kay said it would have to be sent out for the new battery to be installed as Pulsar had reclaimed its watch tools from Kay. I fussed and fumed at the ridiculousness of having to send a watch out for battery replacement but eventually gave it to them.

On December 2, 2006 Kay Jewelers called to say the watch needed new 'works' rather than a battery and the cost of repair would be $105.00. Since that was about the value of the watch new, I declined and asked them to return the watch 'as is'.

On December 4, 2006, I returned to Kay to pick up my watch and was asked again if I wanted it repaired. I again declined. After leaving Kay Jewelers I went to a small independent jewelery repair store in the same mall and explained the diagnosis and proposed treatment. He agreed to take a look and promptly opened the watch case with his pen knife (no special Pulsar authorized tool); put in a new battery and the watch is running perfectly.
The watch was returned to me by Kay in an unmarked plastic bag so there was no evidenc that it had been sent anywhere in the week plus that I had been without it.

It is my belief that the 'lifetime battery warranty scheme and this entire episode was designed to have me pay for costly replacement parts and repairs that were uneccessary.
