Probably the 30th phone call last night, I reached a human. He again demanded a social security number, stating that he represented Merchants' Credit Guide and had my husband's name. My husband took the phone and went totally ballistic. I wanted to try and get the physical address but the phone was destroyed in his anger. This has gone on long enough.

And the reason you are getting calls on YOUR unlisted number, is that they are NOT looking for you! They are looking for someone who had your number before you did.
MCG CO are junk debt buyers who specialize in very old, legally uncollectable debts that they purchase for approx 1/10th of a penny on the dollar. These debts are often in the 10-20 year old range, sometimes more.
NEVER call, or speak to ANY debt collector on the phone. ALWAYS upon first contact, send a CEASE COMMUNICATION request as per your rights under the FDCPA that you can read and print out at the FTC.gov website.
Send all communications only by certified mail, return reciept requested. Put the certified# on the letter itself, and keep a copy for your records.
