Search TipsOnce I hung up, I did what I always do, I researched the company so that I would be well equipped during the interview. The problem in this case is I could not find any legitimate information on the Davis Corporation. This is when the first red flag was raised. Next, I went online to the website that the gentleman claimed to have seen my resume. I could not find a posting for the alleged Management & Associate Benefits Coordinator position anywhere online. This is when the second red flag was raised. Then, 2 days after I spoke with the first guy about the position, I received another call from a woman asking me to give her a call about the very SAME role. This is when the third and final red flag was raised. Why didnt she know I already had an interview scheduled?
At this point, I was highly suspicious and figured there may be something fishy going on. I did a little more digging and came across this post! Again, thank you for sharing your experience. I have since canceled my interview. I am currently employed and would have been highly upset if I would have wasted a vacation and or personal day to go on this interview!
If the position is insurance sales then SAY it upfront! It is very deceitful to lure people in under the guise of a Benefit Coordinator title. I have absolutely NO desire to sell anything. There is nothing on my resume that suggests I have any sales experience. The guy I spoke with told me the Davis Corporation provided benefits to union employees. I have an HR background so on the face of it, I assumed the role was a Human Resources focused position.
Mr. Davis, congratulations on all your success, but my suggestion would be to be honest and tell prospective candidates exactly what the position is. I would also suggest doing a better job at recruiting and sourcing candidates ( i.e. people who actually have sold insurance or people who WANT to sell insurance!).

I just want to say Mr. Davis you have missed out on one of the best candidates for your company because your secretary cant relate to normal life situations. She needs customer service training and people skills. She probably needs some small amounts of therapy to deal with whatever "real harassment" she feels shes having over the phone from others.
I was trying to be professional and contact Mr. Davis or an HR Dept. about the situation so that we could come to an agreement but could find none that would get me around going through the Admin.
Happy Holidays ;0)

Secondly, it is a State requirement not a Kevin Davis Agency requirement. The license you receive is portable meaning you can take it with you.
We Do Not mislead anyone on the opportunity. I have been with the company for 4 years; I started out as an agent and worked my way up to State General Agent in 2 years. I now own my agency.
I have been a State Director for 23 months and have built an agency with just myself and an administrator to 40 plus licensed agents. I help my community by teaching a skill it took me 18 years to cultivate as a Stock Broker and previous Mortgage Company owner. I've built my business with integrity, honesty, passion, humility and humanity. I know the struggle of individuals who are unemployed, so through American Income Life it gives me an Opportunity to help.
While this Opportunity is not for everyone, it has changed the many lives that are now employed by the Kevin Davis Agency and American Income Life.
My advice when seeking a Job opportunity, whether in this field or not, is to invest in the research thoroughly like I did before starting with the company; if you do, you will discover that Warren Buffet the 3rd richest man in the nation owns a significant portion of Torch-mark- TMK (our parent company) on the New York Stock exchange and his affiliation alone deserves a second look. We also own and are affiliated with Globe Insurance, American Heritage, just to name a few.
We deal with unions; in addition we're a 100 percent unionized so there is no cold calling nor door to door type of services whatsoever on our part. This separates our company from 90 percent of the insurance companies out there because unions request their benefits from us and we deliver said benefits to them. If the individual or family is in need more insurance they buy it, if they don't there is no pressure. We have thousands of clients to see during open enrollment.
Should there be any additional questions, or you'd like to discus the opportunity itself more extensively, please feel free to contact my company out your earliest convenience.

Thirdly, the positions do entail customer service, though that's not the title.
It's not that bad of a company, insurance field in general is a multi-trillion dollar arena and growing especially when everyone needs life insurance, so many other business avenues are faltering slowly, those that aren't don't necessarily earn the money in a rapid rate nor offers the same amount of freedom that an insurance company does. Davis Group is just a job opportunity to those looking for one, if it's not something your open to, understandable but why turn down a possible career opportunity that could be very lucrative, long standing, and a great source of networking, when so many other business avenues are struggling?
