The policy never was cancelled. I was not able to go back to work after the heart attack so I go behind on my car payments. I paid the payments as I good without a job. In May 2009 I contact the insurance co and found out the policy was never cancelled, so they contact the dealership and finally the policy was cancelled. I was contacted my the dealership on May 8, 2009 and was told that a refund check had been sent to Kia Motor Finance for $2030.00.
I called Kia Motor Finance and they told me that once they received the check, they would refund it to me. I asked them to applied it to my back payments and they refused. They also told me on that same call if I didnt make a payment they were going to repo my car. I finally borrowed the money from several of my friends and sent them a payment. They have threaten me several times to come and repo my car so due to the stress I had another heart attack on May 14, 2009 and was in the hospital for five days.
When I got out of the hospital, I called Kia Motor Finance to see if they had got the check. I was informed by a rep that the check was applied to my back payments and I didnt have a payment due until Aug 24, 2009, I asked her for a letter stating that and she refused. I went on their website and verified that there was not payment due until Aug 2009. I had been informed by my doctor I would need to a heart bypass, so since I thought I had my car payments paid ahead, I went ahead and scheduled my surgery.
I then recevied a call from Debra Archies from Kia Motor Finance on June 5, 2009 and she informed me that they were going to repo my car since I was behind on my payments. I informed her what the rep had told me about my payments being paid until Aug 2009. She then put on a very rude man whom informed me that any refund per my contract was applied to the principle of the loan.
I tried to explained to him that I financed 22603.05 when in fact I should have financed only 20573.05 so that would make my account overpaid by 2030.00 he informed me that I was wrong and if I didnt send them a check for 800.00 by the next day my car would be repo. I was so upset that I canceled my heart bypass surgery because I needed my car.
I have been trying to deal with Kia for about 5 months and the only thing I have gotten from them is rudeness and lies. I faxed a letter to a Mr K Forte, I was told he was the manager concerning this problem with no response. I have been searching the internet for three days to find a person in charge of Kia Motor Finance since no one at their 800 number will not give me anyone.
I have found out that the service center employees are not knowledgeable and lie. I need my car and I also need my bypass surgery and I am sick of trying to deal with them. My next step will go to my local tv station that deals with consumer problems and the BBB in order to get this taken car of.
