My car was stalled on a side street during the Kansas Blizzard on Thursday, Feb 21, 2013. Since my insurance couldnt send out a tow within 24hours the City of Olathe Police had my car impounded by Kidds towing on Friday 22, 2013. After contacting Kidds Towing I was told they didnt know where my vehicle was located and then I was told they didnt have my vehicle.
The young lady said she would need to call me back regarding my vehicle which never happened. Four hours later the young lady still wasnt able to tell me where my vehicle was located. Finally after 6hours had passed I located my vehicle and
was told it would be 275 to release.
Prior to leaving Kidds Towing location I inspected my car and identified $700 worth of damage (crack/gouged) to front bumper. I advised Mike Kody that this damaged was not on my car prior to yesterday so what happened? The only response from Mike Kody was he will have the manager call me that same day. [continued below]....
That never happened. I made sure inspected my vehicle in front of Mike and before I signed the release paperwork.
I wrote the damage he caused on this paper work and took pictures. I immediately contacted my insurance company and notified them of the incident & damages. My insurance company recommended I allow Kidds Towing a couple of days to respond to the claim. After waiting and additional two days and advising the receptionist at Kidds Towing that I had already left several messages and needed to speak to the Owner. She then informed me she would have Mike Kody (the owner) call me back that same day. That never happened either. It has been two weeks since the incident and my insurance company states a person name Scott (Kidds Towing) finally called on 3-5-13 and stated they are not liable. I advised my insurance
company that Kidds Towing is liable and the damage was caused when they towed my vehicle. It is unfortunate that this
company feels they can prey on individuals and not be held accountable. . Even the City of Olathe admitted that they were wrong for towing my car and dismissed the citation. Also my insurance company will be reimbursing me for the tow fees (275). I will continue to let my friends, family, coworkers and anybody that will listen know about the shady practices of this
I will be filing complaints with BBB and the Attorney General to minimize this from happening to someone else in the future. I hoped the owner/driver Mike Kody would be honest and admit the damage was caused by his negligence but he refuses to admit he made a mistake.
