at its best!

I purchased a queen size air bed from Kmart and it was on sale for $29.99. I was asked if I wanted to purchase a WARRANTY plan for $5.00. I agreed to purchase it. The bed is not the best quality and ended up getting a few holes. I called the claim center and filed a report, which was approved ;so they sent me a gift card for the amount I spent plus tax. Little did I know I couldn't get a replacement bed because it is no longer on sale. So basically I just have a basic gift card to purchase anything. I'm out of a bed. The warranty plan Kmart offers IS NOT A REPLACEMENT PLAN. beware.

You took the words right out of my mouth. There are a few Kmart's in my area and all of them are pretty far away from where I live. If I had to travel there to get a bed,I wouldn't mind because its essential to my health. I need a bed. The fact that I have to travel there to buy basic needs just bothers me a little. Now,on the up side,if I hadn't bought the warranty I wouldn't have anything to show for my bed but they should really explain the warranty in more detail when selling it.

I think this is a new way of big company to deal with their warranty plan. Even though you get back the money you spent on an item you have a warranty, it has many advantages to the seller company. And the buyer can't do anything because the "value" is equal to what the buyer spent before.

The company would be benefit in many ways.

1) Worry free from item is no longer in stock by giving back (not paying back) the same value item of whatever the buyer spent on the item.
2) Give back the amount of whatever the buyer spent on an item that its price might have gone up. As a result, the company won't be out of money because of the price difference.
3) The buyer MUST spend the money back to the store because it is not "cash" to be spent anywhere else.

Yes, this type of warranty plan is not a real warranty that most people are expecting and it is not really worth to buy.
