I had Knapp Classic Cabinets installed in my kitchen in February of 2011. By November of 2011, 6 panels were water-damaged. None of the wood was in contact with standing water or excessive moisture. It seemed that the wrong stain was put on them or whatever is done to seal standard cabinets in a kitchen, particularly around the sink, was not done. He mentioned that the Alder wood is a soft wood and may scratch or dent easier so I was aware of taking extra caution putting dishes away, etc. But, just leaning up against them with jeans on has caused chipping in the wood, the hinges holding the doors on slip and some of the screws are stripped already only two years after installation. 

I called Mike Knapp in December of 2011 and had a series of phone calls through February of 2012, mostly just me leaving messages for him actually. He directed me to another person, Cory, who seemed very frustrated with Mike at the time and interested in helping me with this matter.  However, both men denied that any water damage had occurred without even coming back to look at the cabinets. There was no follow up from either one and they essentially told me that I was lying. Again, they refused to look at the cabinets for themselves and just told me what I was saying was not true. I chose not to pursue them at that time but two years later, the cabinets continue to deteriorate. I paid between $6000-$7000 for cabinets that were defective from the start. I don't believe that Mike Knapp will provide a remedy for this as evidenced by his previous indifference to the defect. I am writing to let other consumers know so that they are not victims of his poor quality products and poor customer service.
