I attended Knotts Scary Farm the evening of October 12, 2012 and had a horrific experience while attending the funnel cake shop inside the theme park. To explain further, around 12:15am we handed the girl behind the counter a $20 bill for a funnel cake and moments later when we asked for change she told us we never gave her money. We looked at her in shock and we reassured her that we had as she seemed to desperately search the store for where she had placed it. I watched my girlfriend hand the $20 bill to the girl behind the counter and we are 100% sure the money was given to her. We also noticed that they were in the process of switching drawers and messing around laughing with her colleagues as the money was handed to her so this could have had something to do with the misplaced money? What was done with the $20 after we handed it to her was unknown as we weren't watching her carefully since we expected a smooth transaction like usual.
We asked for management and the first manager we had spoken to was extremely defensive for her colleague and was accusing us of not paying and that her employee would never make that kind of mistake (all she did was make us more frustrated). After 15-20 minutes of trying to resolve the problem and being offered no solution we asked for upper management. After waiting an additional 10 minutes, the head manager finally showed up and insisted that they count the money in the drawer which came up to be even. After waiting a total of at least 1 hour, they told us there was nothing they could do except take down our information and get back to us tomorrow with the possibility that our money was found. Again, we looked at her in shock as we were 100% sure they had our money but would still not give us our change.
They still have not gotten back to us and I am extremely shocked at the lack of professionalism and inability to problem solve. Our money was stolen from us and our night was ruined while waiting for over an hour for our refund of a few bucks. Additionally, the lack of customer service received was horrendous and embarrassing on the behalf of Knotts Scary Farm.
