I will NEVER buy from Kroger Co. again! I would advise everyone else to do the same who cares about their health.

After defrosting 2 boneless, skinless breasts (which by the way, one of the first chicken breasts out of the bad DID have a bone in it)I began to cut one in half and found a HEART in it. Tubes and all!

That is the most digusting thing I have ever seen and I am now a vegetarian because of it. And all Kroger wanted to give me was a gift certificate FOR MORE CHICKEN!

Believe me that company has NOT heard the last of me!

Amusing

AUTHOR: Krista - (U.S.A.)

Yes..I would be totally grossed out if I found that in my chicken. I would however, chalk it up to human error and get over it. Seriously though, chickens have hearts and here we are cutting them out for our own enjoyment of a fried chicken breast!

Funny also how you screamed at the people for not judging you and then turned around and did the same thing. hmmmm....talk about hypocrite.

btw...if you are going to insult, learn to spell the insulting word. (insest-bred, incest-bred).

Gotta go, my daddy/uncle/brother is waiting for me...we are getting married! =/ Get a grip and a clue on southerners. 90% of us are probably 10x's more refined then you!

#2 UPDATE Employee

i agree

AUTHOR: Craig - (U.S.A.)

i agree with all of you about the chicken hearted chick, she needs to get a job to buy herself some anger management, honey you also need to get a clue too and ive never seen them sold at kroger where ive been a file clerk for 19 years now. the breast of the chicken is near the heart of the chicken the same as we humans have hearts, breasts and livers and probably the gizzard in the human is really the kidney i dont know but lets calm down now. how about them feathers peices that still remain in the chicken skin? im here in central illinois and since ive eaten most parts of animals including animals not sold in stores i dont think that even the thought of finding a chicken heart under that peice of chicken breast is the most of your worries let me tell you just throw it out if you didnt like it after all can you find it in your heart to excuse the processing plants that are probably run by machines these days to not be able to not detect that they have put in a peice that is not supposed to be there. Lord have mercy you sorry thing! like as if we were out to get you.

now think about how gods creatures come along and do their normal thing on that head of lettuce in the field that you just bought and cut up in your salad. c**k a doodle doo!!!

No stereo types here

AUTHOR: Alex - (U.S.A.)

They say if you eat the heart of a chicken you gain it's soul (or was that the heart of a fallen foe in battle?) either way I think you should give it a shot, you could use one. By the way my double wide is beautiful, we decorated it with Nascar curtains we used from the cotton that we picked. I bet you believe that all Asians are kung fu masters as well. Ya'll come back now, ya hear?

Sorry but this is just plain wrong

AUTHOR: ROBERT - (U.S.A.)

See I don't work for a Kroger I actually work for a local competitor of Krogers in Indiana and I really dislike the company as a whole for my own reasons. I am not however stupid enough to be as dense and hard-headed as you over a chicken heart. Being that I work as a manager in a grocery store I come across people like yourself many times, usually people that are selfish and have no idea what it's like to actually have to do a bit of work so they complain about everything.

These people also usually pay for their food with foodstamps. Here is my suggestion, go get a job proccessing chicken for about a month and see if you are complaining about a heart anymore after that. It's amazing how much more understanding people are after they have had to put in a hard days work.

My advice get a job and learn what it's like to make an honest mistake and have someone gripe at or complain to you over something small and stupid. I bet your attitude might change then and you would probably even write an apology to your local Kroger store.

All the post aginst the topics are the EMPLOYEES of Kroger!

AUTHOR: Sherry - (U.S.A.)

Kropger may have not packaged the meat but they still have a responsibility to INSPECT the meat! Because according to law if they sell, nasty hazardouse meat, they along with the company CAN be sued!

heart lady

AUTHOR: Catwoman - (U.S.A.)

I would like to say that everyone in this world makes mistakes. And yes, sometimes when we get ready to cook we find things in our meats that shouldn't be there. It is our jobs as the cook to check and make sure the food is right for cooking. I would like to thank you for giving all of us readers the chance to meet " MS PERFECT" Because i know by you writing this that you have NEVER in your life made a mistake. You have done everything perfect you're whole life. And that you're out there in the world finding all of us little people that make mistakes. Grow up and find something better to complain about. Maybe like the fact people are dieing everyday. And that they're many people out there that would love to find a heart in their chicken. More for dinner. Good day and good luck in being perfect.

Thanks for the laugh

AUTHOR: Kay - (U.S.A.)

Quite an amusing thread to say the least.

To the young ~clearing throat~ lady who found the chicken heart. Of course chicken hearts do not belong in the package with chicken breast, but the one person was right, you must air your complaint with the packaging company that sold the chicken to Krogers.

Myself I do not eat or even want to look at chicken hearts, gizzards, livers, necks etc., but the fact remains these are items that many people, north and south eat. They are indeed packaged every single day in whole chickens and turkeys as well packaging. To me your only complaint would be the tiny little extra the hearts caused in the weight of the packs, since you pay by pound.

Did you know that some people actually eat tongue, and feet? Pretty nasty eh? Just don't allow yourself to get so upset over such a small oversite, its just not worth it. Don't sweat the small stuff. And if you want to place blame, place it with the packaging company.
have a good one.

#10 Consumer Suggestion

To the flaming hot-headed heart-eating BI-ATCH

AUTHOR: Shawangunk - (U.S.A.)

Yes, I think we can all say that we DO know you, judging from your response here. Can you be any more hot-headed, demeaning, and judgmental, above other things? It sounds to me that you still hold a lot of anger inside after yo' mama abandoned you at the Crusty Grove trailer park when you were young. I would bet a thousand dollars that the Kroger meat packing guy purposely put that heart in your chicken package to get a wee bit of enjoyment out of your reaction after having to deal with your high-horse righteous attitude in his store.
My consumer suggestion to you is: 1-calm down, 2-seek professional behaviour management help, 3-be reasonable and respectful when dealing with people especially if it is about something you want, and 4-treat people with respect as what goes around comes around!
So how are things at the Crusty Grove these days?

Let me state the obvious..

AUTHOR: Robin - (U.S.A.)

No, don't know you, don't want to after your hysterical rants.

However, you have posted a Rip-Off Report about Kroger Grocery Stores and even urged a boycott against them, even though you say you know they are not at fault. Hmmm... That is libel and defamation of character. Those things mean that you have posted things that are untrue and attempted to ruin the reputation of an innocent party anyway! That tells me that you are perfectly willing to lie...

You may have found a heart but you are blaming the wrong party. I pity that Kroger store's manager; I'd be willing to bet that you have put him or her through absolute Hell!

You don't know me either, oh hysterical one, and you have published even more libel in your second post. My hope is that the next organ you find is a brain; you are sorely in need of one!

Have a nice "heartless" day!

SCREW YOU HOBOS

AUTHOR: Amy - (U.S.A.)

You know what, I really do not care what you HICKS have to say, because any person who eats hearts regulary has got to have problems. You have NO right to judge me! YES I DO have a problem with finding ORGANS in my meat, and I KNOW I'm not the only person that would!

Yes, I know that Kroger is not the people who package the meat, I'M NOT STUPID, and I DO know who the packaging company is because I HAVE spoken with them.

DO NOT tell me what to get bent out of shape about! YES IT WAS F*ING DISGUSTING.

And to you Southern, cotton-pickin, trailor trash, insest-bred, low-lives that think you live the glamour life because you eat FRIED SH*T, DO NOT try to school me in what you think I don't know, YOU DON'T KNOW ME.

Gee, A Heart And A Bone!

AUTHOR: RJ - (U.S.A.)

You probably believe in the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny. I say that because you appear to believe that chicken somehow just appears in that pretty package. Or maybe you think it grows in there like a plant. Ive got bad news. Human hands touch everything you eat, including fruits and vegetables. A few mistakes and some contamination are inevitable. Next, youll probably find part of a bug in your spinach or broccoli. Then what are you going to eat?

Personally, Im very thankful that some people are willing to work under less than ideal conditions in the food processing industry. And if someone cuts up several hundred chickens daily and misses a little bone or accidentally fails to remove a heart, its not reasonable for the consumer to be all bent out of shape.

You do have a choice. Grow your own plants or raise, slaughter, and cut up your own meat. But be sure to remove all of the bugs and cut out all of the bones.

Oops! I forgot...Kroger doesn't process chicken, so boycotting them won't help.

AUTHOR: Robin - (U.S.A.)

In my sincere effort to calm you about your "heart" experience, I forgot to state the obvious.

Kroger doesn't process chicken. Since I live in what amounts to the chicken-processing capital of the world, I assume everyone knows this. My oversight.

You never said what label was on the chicken. Even if it was an unbranded package with only a Kroger label, it more than likely was processed AND packaged either by Tyson Foods or Pilgrim's Pride or any one of a number of smaller operations. Kroger gets it already wrapped by the processor and would have no way of knowing what was under the visible contents. Kroger should be able to tell you where they purchased the chicken. There is your culprit! Complain to them.

Kroger actually did you a courtesy by giving you the gift certificate for more chicken. I hope that you are now over your trauma and able to see this more objectively. It really will be okay in the long run.

Sorry I poked a little fun earlier; it's warped Southern humor. You'd have to live here to fully comprehend it....

People in my neck of the woods eat 'em by the pound!

AUTHOR: Robin - (U.S.A.)

That would be considered a lucky find around here; just what is your problem? Folks around here consider chicken hearts a delicacy.

We roll the hearts in flour and meal, fry 'em up, and eat 'em! They are also darn good catfish bait!

In all seriousness, there is nothing in a chicken heart that will harm you. If you don't want it, just throw the darn thing out. You could consume it in its entirety without damage to yourself.

Sometimes things get overlooked in processing. That is why the cook needs to inspect the food before cooking. Life is not always neat. However, if you should ever find a human heart in your chicken, please come back and let us know. THAT would be a landmark Rip-Off Report!
