Lahaxa Kennels, DeAnn Thompson, Brock Thompson WARNING, DO NOT BUY A PUPPY HERE!!!!!
My husband and I purchased a Boxer Puppy in Gloucester, ME from Lahaxa Kennels, DeAnn Thompson, Brock Thompson in April 2012 the experience has been a NIGHTMARE. Our puppy was very sick with several different ailments. We have spent a small fortune trying to diagnose her issues and to get her healthy. With-in 48 hours of her purchase we were at the ER vet because the puppy had Kennel Cough and Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye). We then took her in to our regular vet the next day and she was diagnosed with Giardia (very contagious to other animals and humans, so glad we do not have children or other pets) Our vet also found a heavy infestation of round worms and tape worms! She had vaginitis as well which became a full blown UTI.DeAnn has been very rude and unprofessional. She had promised to reimburse some of our vet bills way back in May. The first payment from her was VERY late "was lost in the mail, of course" and the second payment never came at all, it is way past due. Her way of dealing with the health issues was to get defensive and play the blame game. She even wanted to take back our puppy back! We love our puppy and she has become a part of our family. We would never give up on her and send her back to that place! Now, we see that she has several more puppies for sale so this is a BUYER BEWARE warning. Stay away from Lahaxa Kennels. Her puppies are cute and less expensive than other breeders in New England but when I total what I spent on the puppy with all of the vet bills I could have bought a much higher quality puppy from a reputable breeder and I would not have had all of these vet bills and a broken heart watching my sick puppy deal with issues that could have been dealt with early on by the breeder and then she would not have become so sick. Her website says that she makes dreams come true 4 paws at a time. That is a joke, this has been a nightmare dealing with the financial strain and stress and heartache of a precious, sweet and innocent puppy. We wonder how anyone could call themselves a good breeder when they first would let a puppy get all of these issues and not deal with them and second, sell her to a family who trusted that they were getting a healthy puppy. Our puppy did not deserve the lack of care she received there and we are so happy she is safe and loved with us, we are afraid to think what would have happened to her if we had not brought her home that night. If she had not received the proper medical care, I am not sure how long she could have survived. We did call the vet that DeAnn took her to for vaccines after our vet informed us that puppies should come with a health certificate from a vet because breeders are required to have the puppy cleared by a vet before sending them to their new homes and we did not receive one, just a paper that DeAnn had written on telling us when our puppy supposedly had been wormed and when she rec'd her vaccines. The vet's office said that the puppy had not been examined, they had only been instructed to give vaccines not health exams! How can she be allowed to do business like this? She had no confirmation what-so-ever that our puppy was suitable for sale when she sold her to us because she did not have her examined before we purchased her. This was our first experience purchasing a puppy from a breeder and we will make sure that the next time we want to add a family member, we will be much more careful.
