45 days after incurring a $140 doctors invoice, and waiting for my insurance co. to pay thier first part, LABCORP COLLECTIONS sent me an immediate demand for the $14.87 balance under threat of ruining my credit score if I did not pay immediately, in full, without an option to speak to a representative. I was forced to pay by auto-pay, devuldging my credit card info, and date of birth. Thier "system" was apparently down, so they had to re-direct the payment info to a "live" representative, who answered my 14 minute wait with "are you paying your bill? in a harsh, forceful tone. I was then directed to repeat all credit-card info again to complete the payment, and a receipt was not offered in the form of an e-mail correspondence, only a snail-mail receipt... My credit score is excellent, my relationship with my doctor WAS excellent, until I determined that he uses LABCORP LABS for his lab-work and billing. I changed physicians. I wholly reccommend any others out there who are treated with the same uniform dis-respect to do the same. Yes, economic times are not the best, but tactics like these are not condusive to good Dr., patient relationships. Your Doctor will have a few carefully chosen words to the Labcorp people after they lose a few patients.....fight extortion by choosing your Doctor, as well as the bill collector...Make sure your new physician does NOT use LABCORP LABS.
