LaVallee's USA Black Belt Champions is only about how much money they can get out of people. They sign you up to a non-refundable contract. They pressure you to sign a contract for the BBC, which is the most expensive. If your child does not like the class, and wants to stop, they still hold you to the contract, which is for 3 years. If you're an adult and cannot continue the classes, they still hold you to the contract. I got hurt at work and was unable to participate in karate classes for almost a year. LaVallee's still held me to the contract, even though I had a letter from my physician saying that I was not physically able to participate. They also force you to buy their uniforms and their equipment, such as num chucks and protective gear. After you've bought the num chucks, they stop using them and then you're stuck with them. The head instructor, Master KC, is nasty and a fraud. She walks around in a karate uniform wearing a black belt. In reality, she knows nothing about karate but was, instead, given the belt by her husband, Steve LaVallee, the owner of the school. Each class they spend more than half of the time doing calaesthenics and running around. That way they can drag the lessons out for at least 3 years, all the while collecting $150 -$175 per month from you. There are much better, and much cheaper karate schools around. Stay away from this one.
