I've banked with 5/3bank for 2yrs now & I called in to ask for help because my account was overdrafted for 2.00 and they charged my account 37.00 charge, I spoke to the manager and asked if she can wavie the fee for me and she told me that she couldn't because she didn't want to, so I asked her where do all the money for overdraft fees go and she said the bank it self, i said bank it self?? She said yeah!! This manager of the 5/3bank on 71st and Binford in Indanapolis, In 46250 is a rip off i really thinks she pocketing the money because every time i look around my account is over drwan because of maintenance fee i thought you didn't get charged to maintenance fees??

It is really simple. If you spend more money than is in your account you are "overdrawn". The bank will charge you an overdraft fee for every item that they pay while your acccount is overdrawn. It does not matter if you go over by by $0.01 or $100 the fee is the same. The employee is NOT pocketing the money. To try and get it waived, you may find that actually going into the bank can sometimes get better results than calling the customer service number.
As for the maintence fee. If you do not understand what the fee is for you need to go into the bank and ask them to explain it to you. If it is a valid fee ask them if there is anyway to avoid that fee. If the fee remains then you need to account for this in your register every month so you don't go overdrawn.
