Lani Properties Tenants Fall Victim To Predatory Slumlords In Hawaii, Raid Style Forced Eviction Before Christmas, Loss Of Beloved Golden Dog, Catarina Cat & Nani Cat Honolulu, Hawaii

Lost wages, lives shattered, mental & emotional distress, lied to and betrayed by a property mismanagement company who has a mafia mentality.

Spring 2005 we began renting a 40's war era two bedroom one bath duplex. A dirt road ran through a back area off a main road, leading between housing resembling a town from the old west.

From day one we noticed the vinyl floors were worn and soft in places, and the bedroom rugs looked discolored and stained. The electrical outlet on the front porch burned out my expensive brand new tall sized mini refrigerator within only a few days after plugging it in.

The electrical outlet in the front bedroom fried a DVD player and a VCR, we were told not to put in an air conditioner even though our neighbor put in two of them anyway while we sweated from the hot heat for being foolish good tenants and losing for doing the right thing, his air conditioners always tripped out our breaker switch and power.

The water flow in the toilet became so bad, that you could no longer flush it without using buckets. A well known dump up the road was a local controversy, noisy uncovered trucks, some possibly containing toxic waste would bombard the two lane roadway as they passed.

Dirt and dust would collect on your furniture leaving you coughing and sneezing, this passed through your windows daily. The original resident manager who was a sensible old lady found people to maintain some of the property.

However when she passed, her son who was an alleged substance abuser replaced her, and it was almost an immediate time frame before the coin operated washer and dryers fell into disrepair, the outdoor washroom is closed and locked, even though to this very day they still advertise them as a working selling point when renting to new tenants.

There also was a house within 50 feet from us where some neighbors moved out three years back, management began to repair the front porch but never completing it, leaving it abandoned to match another decrepit house that appeared to have been abandoned for years, just on the other side.

There had been a few fires over the years with flames engulfing the parameters of the property, with only a fire trail preventing the houses from catching fire and blowing up the nearby propane tank. On two occasions we were running for our lives thinking we were going to be consumed by flames and smoke.

This could have also been the reason they couldn't seem to keep tenants very long at the house closest to the brush fire line. We were charged false late charges constantly but always proving that we paid on time for years until one day............

We started falling behind and the late charges became real, we fell behind when two different jobs stiffed me for my wages, and my wife's unemployment extension  may have saved us, yet a month had passed and there was still no word on it.

Our next door neighbor had just been evicted the day before, but for some reason was allowed more time to move than we were, he was still moving over 24 hours later. Now realizing our horrific fate, I frantically called Lani Properties to explain our predicament.

They would have been getting a payment this month, I had two new job opportunities and we were getting a loan to make a substantial payment. Dianne said she would talk to the owners but instead betrayed us like a snake, all over a place that had been vacant for at least a year before we had moved in.

Dianne had ask if I was at home now and quickly put me on hold, next the Sheriff appeared at our gate. We were told to get our belongings and clear out within 20 minutes, I was in complete shock, my complete life was crumbling before my very eyes, I was so nervous that I couldn't think, we were about to lose our beautiful pets, all of our furniture, many of our treasures and our entire garden that we depended on for extra food.

We did get a few hours, but with a borrowed car, massive packing, muddled thinking from confusion, fear and sadness, not knowing what to do with our pets that we loved with all of our hearts, we were an emotional wreck.

We were not even given 24 hours, in the same day we lost our beautiful pet named Golden Dog who was running loose around the neighborhood the last day, the other victim was Catarina Cat.

She was a black and tan cat that we had for six years and she had been with us in three different house moves, she was left laying on my white sports coat, just like the titanic going down with no one to save her, Nani Cat was another victim, she was left looking out the open window with the screens off so that they could escape.

Our pets were like our family, I miss them so very much, they were forcibly abandoned even though we called the Humane Society, we were not allowed to remain on the property the next day for the animals to be picked up, instead we were told by the Sheriff we would be arrested for trespassing if we returned.

I curse Lani Properties for the cold blooded demons that they are, and a homeless couple on the beach told us that they take partial payment from tenants and kick them out anyway leaving them stranded.
