What a nightmare this company has created for my husband and myself, oh and our co-signer. It all started by the economy and ended with the horrible business practices of Larry Miller and LoanZone.

My husband is a builder and over the last year has taken a huge cut in his business. We bought a dodge pickup through Larry Miller, over the year we just couldn't afford it anymore. My husband went to the dealer and asked if they could help us get out of it before we lost it. "Lets see what we can do for you" famous last words. After and entire day of sitting in the dealership and faxing 30 some pages of tax returns, LoanZone came back and said, unfortunately without a co-signer we cant get you financed. I talked to my friend who was willing to co-sign. The next day at like 6 Larry Miller called and said "GREAT NEWS" we got financing, you guys can come get the car. Two hour drive back to Boise, get to the dealership, our salesman, after trying to get us to chose a different car than the one I had already had picked out, tells us all the finance people have gone home, but you can take the car and we will drive to McCall and sign all the paperwork. Odd, but ok. We have the car for like 3 or 4 days, before they sent the salesman Alex to McCall. The morning we were due to sign the papers, I get a call from Susan saying everything is good, "except" the lender needs at least $600.00 down, which wasn't the agreement when we were approved. Since we weren't going to have to make the truck payment, we went ahead and agreed to the down payment. We meet with the co-signer, signed 14 pieces of paper, including a contract. I was concerned that our "co-signer" was now the buyer and my husband was the co-buyer. When I asked about it, the salesman had no clue why, during the signing, he had to call the office several times, because he "didn't know" he was just doing someone else's job. Susan told us that it is normal to put the person with the best credit first. Our co-signer was okay with that so we went ahead and signed. At this point, we thought we were proud owners of a 2009 Mazda 3. Alex went back to Boise and we drove to the DMV, registered the car, had the insurance transferred. We did all the things you do when you purchase a new car. Two days later, we get a call from Susan stating that the lender needed more information from us and our co-signer. She said the lender needed 3 months worth of bank statements, utility bills, drivers license or Id etc, etc... Oh she said, "our mistake", we sent the wrong contract with Alex, we will fed-ex the new one to you and you just send it back. WHAT??? Susan reassured me that the loan went through, but all this paperwork was just procedure for that lender so they could finish processing the loan. So, after getting everything together, we fax it all off. Good to go, is what Ami, Susan's assistant told me on the phone. Meantime, my husband and I are getting calls from the finance company we go through for the dodge, demanding payments. After telling them we traded the truck, a payoff should be made any day. We still received several calls a day. At this point we are 2 months late on the truck, thinking a payoff will be made. We now have had the car a month, payment is coming due and we have no idea where to send the payment, no payment book, etc... I call the office on Monday, leave 2 messages, no call back, Tuesday no call back, Wednesday no call back, so I e-mail Susan and she finally e-mails me back to tell me that the loan was denied because our "co-signer" didn't have a drivers license and already had an open auto loan on her credit, but she was pushing it through another lender and would let me know. WHAT??? She knew this information on Friday, but apparently it wasn't a big enough deal to call and tell us that information. "We were out of the dealership at an off site sale for the weekend" is what Susan tells me. Bogus excuse, she had no intentions of calling. She knew for 6 days and I would have never known, if I wouldn't have e-mailed her. I asked her what the chances were a new lender would accept the loan and how long the process would take, because the dodge finance company wanted their money or they would repo the truck. Susan had no clue, but told me we were responsible for the truck until a lender came through. This whole time our credit is getting worse by the day and it wasn't great to start with. We now had to come up with 1800.00 to bring the truck current, so it didn't get repoed. I call Susan later in the day, because she didn't call me like she said, no surprise since she and Ami never return calls. She tells me good news, new lender came through, "except" you or your husband wont be on the loan, only our "co-signer can be on the loan, but you will be on the title. WHAT??? Absolutely not...this is not what we wanted, this is not going to work. So, now I have to drive 2 hours to go to Boise and return the car and pick up our truck. I will have to transfer the registration and insurance again.

One lie after another, no communication, bad business practices, total ripoff, deceitful. Worst experience we have ever had. This whole time, we were told by the salesman that everything they were doing was FOR US, the dealer wasn't getting anything out of it. The only thing they did for us, was put us in a worse situation than we already were. They have caused us more problems and hurt our credit more than it already was. Plus I am responsible for returning the car and picking up the truck.

We will never step foot on this car lot again, we will never referrer anyone to them, they are nothing but crooks.

What Were You Trying To Do???

AUTHOR: Jim - ()

You say you were trying to get out of the original car loan???  How does borrowing even more money accomplish that?  You owe money on the original car, right?  Do you actually think the amount you STILL owe magically disappears when you trade it in?  That amount is added to the new loan for the next car and you end up paying for two cars but driving one!

YOU CANNOT BORROW YOUR WAY TO PROSPERITY!

You have rights.

AUTHOR: whatever - (United States of America)

I bought a car from Hertz in Oregon. They were to fix the airbag light which was not coming on at time of purchase. This was agreed upon in writing before i left with car (was a Sat) took it back the following week and said they fixed it. Came back on next day , took it back, they fixed it and again it was back on next day. Took it back this time and refused to leave without full report of work and replacement of part (they said they fixed) Could not come up with anything and just kept talking trash. Said I was responsible for it. Took it home and it was on again next day (if light on , no bags will work in a wreck) This time they said i needed a battery ,$89. NOT. More back and forth. Bottom line, I emailed the attorney generals office and was actually surprised to hear from them a week later. back and forth with them and Hertz called to tell me my car was "puff" all fixed and my battery only needed a charge (lie) I went up there and they were very rude but gave me my car and the old part, and bill from NAPA for the new on which I later confirmed to have been actually changed "this time" The AG will do something if you push them. Oregon's AG was great and very diligent on this matter. All car lots answer to the AG in their state. Their was more to this story but the idea is to always contact your state Attorney's Generals office if wronged by a car dealer.

Consumers do have rights

AUTHOR: Blakeway - (United States of America)

For anyone reading this report, we as consumers do have rights reguardless of what Larry H. Miller and its employees try to tell you. I think that consumers are embarrassed and are made to believe it our fault, always, thats why we just "walk away with our tails between our legs". I recently spoke to the BBB and the Attorney General in my state. I was told we as consumers do have rights and the only way we can make Larry H. Miller held accountable for the way they treat consumers is to stand up to them. Dont be affraid to contact the BBB or the Attorney General. The more claims filed against them, the closer they will be watched. We as consumers are the only ones who can make the bad business practices stop. Dont be affraid of Larry H. Miller. I have read so many reports on this website and others... if all of us filed claims against them, I'm sure they would change the way they treat people and in a hurry!! I feel there is enough information to file a class action law suit against them. Maybe then they will either be out of business, or start running their business on the up and up!!
