We purchased a matching sofa and chaise, a dining set, a reclining couch, and a set of living room tables. This order was broken up into 3 separate orders with different Delivery dates.

None of the promised delivery dates were met. We have received 2 written notices for the for the sofa and chaise set and 4 written notices for the reclining couch and living room tables. We have also had at least 4 other phone conversations and promised dates in addition to the written notices. I also made one complaint to their web site. I have had not reply to the web complaint.

At the time of the purchase we were concerned that sofa would be too large and that we should order the loveseat instead. The salesperson said to not worry, that we could exchange it for the loveseat if it did not fit.

We were promised over the phone that all orders would be shipped together at the begining of February. They delivered the sofa and chaise set plus the dining set the first week of February and said that the rest would be shipped the next weekend.

It is now the end of March and we just received the reclining couch. Now that we have the reclining couch the sofa does not fit and we want to exchange it for a loveseat. We went to the store Sat March 1st, and they said we cannot exchange any longer. At this time they informed us that they were in bankruptcy and any changes to orders had to be approved by corporate in New York. We called them this morning and they refused to allow the exchange promised by the salesperson at the time of purchase.

We just got a written notice that delivery for the living room tables will be May 4th, 2006. Nearly 6 months after the order was made. Some of this furniture was told to us by the order people at the phone desk as being in stock.

What really bothers me is seeing advertisements on TV for Levitz with guarranty of shipping in 1 week. It seems to me that since we paid cash they don't have to deliver on time. It seems obvious to me that since we ordered our furniture before the recent avertisements, they push out out delivery to make good on new orders with guaranteed deivery in 1 week.

When we asked to cancel the order they said there is no refunds, only exchanges. When we ask for an exchange they said it's too late to exchange.

We bought from Levitz because it is a major furnishing company who has been in business for a long time. We paid extra for the delivery when we could have taken one of the items that was in stock at the store we bought from.

I hope that you can help us resolve the problems with this company.
