The Lexington Law Renewed Retainer Agreement that I agreed to stated:

When the Firm receives legible copies of credit reports from you, it will draft, sign, and send letters to the three major credit bureaus, or to the furnishers, on your behalf and in your name.

If your listings qualify, the Firm will send up to three (3) letters every thirty (30) days to creditors who have reported information about you to the major consumer reporting agencies, beginning no earlier than the 6th day after you engage the Firm. The letters will either seek a goodwill disposition or request additional information about the reported account. Firm-prepared letters may include your account number and/or Social Security Number as required by creditors and credit bureaus in order to reference your account.

This is a Limited Designation of Agency, granting permission to the Firm to do business with you electronically and to sign letters on your behalf and in your name, and create an account with an online credit report provider on your behalf using your verifying information, and in your name.

No where does it specify that the letters sent on my behalf would not contain the Lexington Law letterhead nor does it state that the letters would be worded (crudely and unprofessionally) and hand signed (by someone else) as if they had been sent from me.  I feel as if they misrepresented themselves in what they were to do to attempt to clean up my credit reports.  I would not have retained their services had I understood.

Not sure what the OP was expecting.

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

It is hard to know for sure what the OP was expecting.  But it appears that this is another case of a lack of reading comprehension.

No where does it specify that the letters sent on my behalf would not contain the Lexington Law letterhead nor does it state that the letters would be worded (crudely and unprofessionally) and hand signed (by someone else) as if they had been sent from me.

- Actually, not once but twice it appears that they say they will sign the letters and make it appear that they come from the client.

1)it will draft, sign, and send letters to the three major credit bureaus, or to the furnishers, on your behalf and in your name.

2)and to sign letters on your behalf and in your name,

The other thing about the "unprofessional" way the letters were written.  They were probably unprofessional on purpose.  As they may be trying to get around the Credit Bureau checks.  As the CRA's will pretty much ignore any request that appears to come from a "3rd party".  The chances of a form letter from a Lawyer getting ignored is pretty great.  Especially if it is a case where they get "flooded" with disputes on the same account.  At that point the CRA can determine ALL requests to be frivoulous and thus they are no longer bound by the FCRA in how long they have to respond to the disputes.

And as was said by the other posters.  These "repair" companies can legally do anything that you can not do for yourself.  There are many..many sites that give free advise on not only how to dispute the items but give templates to use when writing the letters.

yes i know

AUTHOR: debtexpert - (United States of America)

I am aware of what the report was about. The reason I mentioned the other part is because, unfortuately, some people do not know how these things work. Believe me, some people have been under the impression that some companies or attorneys can just delete things off their credit--I have seen this personally.  I was just stressing the point.

If you read the report..

AUTHOR: Inspector - (USA)

the OP was not complaining about "cleaning up his credit" he was talking about the unprofessional manner of which they represented themselves.

I think everyone knows that you, yourself can not just delete items from your credit report and that the debts are contested by the debt agency.  We also know that any individual can do this without hiring a debt agency.

here we go again

AUTHOR: debtexpert - (United States of America)

No where on there did it say it would clear up your credit.  It said it was ask the companies nicely to remove it, and if they do not, they will ask  for verification of debt.   In other words all they do is dispute the debt.

Just like mycreditshot.com, they will dispute it and it remains on the credit report until it is paid.

Think about it, there is no company in the world that can legally just delete things off your credit. If they say this, they are lying. --If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
