Lexington Law is misrepresenting their service and violating CROA. The call center employees are representing themselves as paralegals which is false

Since November 2012, my husband and I have been paying $99.95 a month each to have Lexington Law firm repair our credit. Each month we are charged on time however there are several months where no changes are noted to our credit reports. According to CROA we are not legally allowed to be charged until services are rendered. We have also spent close to $5000 to pay off derogatory debts which we personally handled and this law firm still has not contacted the credit bureaus to dispute the items which were paid off.Lexington Law faithfully takes the $99.95 a month for each of us ($199.90 per month)but fails to produce results. Also they have a portal which shows what is on my credit report and what has been removed, however when I ordered my credit reports from the credit bureau several of the items that supposedly have been removed are still showing on my credit report. They are lying about what has been removed and representing that there is work being done which is not being done.

Also, my husband just got off the phone with an argumentative representative which gave the name "Lynn Smith". My husband asked at least ten times to speak to a supervisor and was finally transferred to a "Chris Black" who when confronted about the fact that the individuals we are speaking with are not paralegals he stated, "Anyone who works for an attorney is a paralegal".The definition of a paralegal is "A person trained in subsidiary legal matters but not fully qualified as a lawyer" and "a paraprofessional who has the required education and experience to assist licensed lawyers in their legal work". Working in a call center does not constitute any of these things.

From reading complaints on another website I found 2 complaints from former employees that stated the individuals who answer when you call are not paralegals, there are no security measures to protect my privileged information and the people at the call center do not cancel accounts when requested because that reduces their commission.

The poor customer service abilities of these so call paralegals is horrendous. The representative that gave the name "Lynn Smith" stated she was a paralegal yet got into a yelling match with my husband when he asked repeatedly to speak to a supervisor. She stated they were all in meetings, she stated that supervisors don't get on the phone, she even told my husband that a supervisor would tell him the same thing she had told him. This company is the absolute worst. They have violated CROA by billing us every month yet not producing results every month. In the past four months I have been billed regularly but there have been no improvements to my credit.

I have contacted the state bar of Utah and I will be filing a complaint against John C. Heath because he is the director of Lexington Law and he is allowing these false and illegal practices. These people that answer the phones are not paralegals although they represent themselves as such, working for John C. Heath. They also are violating CROA which is federal legislation. I am a soldier in the United States Army and if they will treat me like this then they will do this to anyone. I am contacting my senator and explaining this issue to him. I have already contacted the State Bar of Utah to file a direct complaint against John C. Heath.

It cannot be defamation when the information is true

AUTHOR: Cynthia - ()

It is painfully apparent by your response that you are a representative of the company and not a consumer of their services. And in the off chance that you are a consumer it is fortunate that you have a good working relationship with this organization.

I spoke with countless representatives and rarely ever had a positive experience. The individuals who answer the phone are merely call center representatives not paralegals. If you refer to my complaint, you will see that there is a definition of paralegal and people who answer phones don't meet that definition. Even in phony "testimonials" on the website are done by employees of the company. I know for a fact, as I have spoken with several former employees, that personal information is not properly disposed of. I also know from these former employees, that the call center representatives have not received adaquate training to call themselves paralegals.

Even when I spoke with an attorney, he was rude and treated me as though I was a nuisance because I called him. I filed a BBB complaint and had my intelligence insulted repeatedly just as I did by the author of the rebuttal. So, the author of the rebuttal and the woman who works for Lexington Law, please understand I am far from uneducated. I currently have a Masters of Arts degree and maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout college. Not only am I college educated but I am very well educated in various aspects of the legal realm as I was a federal law enforcement officer in the United States Army for the past 6 and 1/2 years.

Also, Lexington Law charges every month for their services. They do not send letters every month. They do not only receive payment after services are rendered. They even require an up front payment before they do anything for you, which if you read the Credit Repair Organization Act (CROA) directly violates federal legislation. I was even told by a representative who referred to himself as Chris Black, "We don't really have to follow CROA". Really?!? Since when do we not have to follow federal legislation?

While it is wonderful that you have had an excellent experience with this organization, I did not. Thousands of other consumers are highly dissatisfied as well. Continue to read the rip off report about Lexington Law. Check out the BBB complaints against this company. Speak with former employees. I wish you the best of luck with your future encounters with this company, that is of course if you are a consumer and not a representative. I continue to tell others about the fraudulent business practices and refer people seeking credit repair to other businesses or to do it themselves.

Unfair and Ugly Public Smear of Lexington

AUTHOR: Wayne Peterson - ()

I think a lawsuit for defamation of character should be filed against the writer of this false and malicious attack against Lexington Law. To claim "illegal fraudulent business practice" is a colossal accusation and to publish it online opens you up to a defamation charge and I would advise the author that you have crossed a line.

My wife and I in 2013 have had a lien and charge off removed by Lexington and already are on our way to great credit. We have had a fabulous experience with their case paralegals. Their call center enrollment people are also called "paralegals" and with good reason - they represent the case paralegals and attorneys and have gone through extensive credit repair training.

So this accusation is not only mean-spirited but patently false. And the ridiculous reference to CROA shows just how ignorant of the law this author actually is.

I also have another friend who went from the low 500's to over 700 in her credit score in only three months with the service. Her life has completely changed because of Lexington's work.

Each month we can see the work Lexington has done. They only charge after they have done a round of letters and interventions. The law requires this and I have no evidence that they violate the law.

The author's claim that Lexington had made no effort to contact credit bureus about a charge off again demonstrates real ignorance. Usually charge-off challenges are done with intervention letters to creditors. And the author would have no immediate way to prove their charge that Lexington had not followed up.

The cancellation charge against Lexington's enrollment call center is also false. I found out that the center has no authority to issue cancellations, those are done by the Case Paralegals in customer service. And Lexington has very tight security precautions with private information in the call center, and all you have to do to prove this is talk to any of their enrollment paralegals or supervisors. Their Salt Lake City office is also available to visit.

And my wife and I have found their customer service to be like Nordstrom's - unbelelievable. One of our case paralegals spent a half hour with me advising me how to handle a particular problem with a creditor. We rarely have long hold times and they are very prompt in responding to us.

If you simply do your part over the phone with the paralegals and through e-mail, and take advantage of the credit counseling and do your steps that the law firm requests, you should have great results.

But if you act like the customer from the dark side, and your attitude is adversarial and "you-guys-are-trying-to-rip-me-off" then you do a disservise to yourself and a good company and law firm that has helped over 500,000 clients clean up their credit reports, over 22 years.

And although I respect any member of the Army or other armed forces, that has zero connection to this issue.

I think anyone who goes online with such smears and character assassination against a reputable company should themselves be sued and made to retract the damage they have attempted.
