Liberty Lighting called our company to verify a MAILING address to send a catalog. Little did we know that almost 3 weeks later, a huge box of incandescent light bulbs that we don't even have shows up on our loading dock.

I know for FACT that the person they talked to did NOT give a purchase order, that they inquired as to what product LL sold, and was quickly told that we had received a catalog from them before and they were just verifying whom to send the next catalog to ( as we , of course, had NEVER done business with them). I sit not 3 feet from them and I am the person responsible for making such orders. There also was NO return call of verification for alleged order placed

This company employs the same predatory tactics as its brethren who then threaten to play taped conversations (illegal in this state w/o consent by the way) hoping you will pay up. We will complain to the BBB, but we also will file compaints with our state's attorney general and with the FCC, as telemarketing across state lines makes it a FEDERAL issue. This usually makes the vultures go away.

Remember.. WE were contacted cold, WE have NEVER done business with this company, WE have NEVER asked for nor received any quotes for pricing ( mandatory in our purchasing process) and I know for FACT that this product was never wanted, nor ordered as I was there at the time the call was made.

If you search their Maryland location down ( Google Earth shows it as a bus stop), and file a complaint withe the Maryland Better Business Bureau, they will open a complaint, and you will get the same " Blah blah blah.. I have 10,000 customers and they dont complain" or the" fraudulent buyer" malarkey you see from an alleged industry insider in the other complaints about Liberty on this site.

After enough back and forth, you end up telling the BBB that there is no "solution", or you've been emotionally beaten down for so long and so much that if they offer to take the product back but YOU pay postage---that you return the product at your expense

Here's  the deal.. you didnt order the product... the salesman used someone else that answered your phone's response saying " Well if X said it, I'm not disputing it" as an open license to rip you off. You werent told the terms of sale, you werent sent pricing. Send the product back from whence it came via UPS with ADULT SIGNATURE MANDATORY, and if they call threatening you, tell them to go pound sand where the sun dont shine.

They KNEW with me, that I was about to invoke a little known federal law regarding unsolicited samples, and as long as I had their product in hand, I was a threat to do so. At minimum I had caught them in a bald faced lie... and they knew it.  Do a little research... or if you want, Do a little digging here. Someone does  cite said statute.

What happens with the AG... is that with small numbers of cases... if the company says they fixed the complaint,or the consumer says same.. they dont raise a stink about it. Its when there are large numbers of unresolved complaints that get the radar of the AG's office tingling.

I have found your report while researching the company Liberty Distribution LLC. I wanted to find more information on how to return this product we never ordered and have now realized we have be scammed. We are a small family owned company and have never dealt with anything close to this kind of situation and we are at a loss. I read that you contacted the Attorney General to file a complaint. I was wondering what else you suggest that we do?

I tried calling my local PD and they said they do not handle this type of situation and that I might want to try contacting our local FBI agency. Is that the only step we should take? They are now threatening that they have a recording of the person making the authorization for the order! I know for a fact that it was not ordered for the call they made was only to confirm the address for a catalog.

So if you can help by letting us know what steps you have made, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for your time and I hope you situation gets cleared up!

     It is now 11/23/2012, and one of the owners just received a series of angry phone calls from one of their "managers" wanting to talk with our AP dept. Of course we are closed for the holiday, but they asked the gentleman who called if they could be of assistance.

         He then went into a rant of how one of his sales reps had talked to "M**** B******" and that HE had ordered the  bulbs and that bulbs just don't " show up " without being ordered. Below is an update from that owner , who says ,

  " I informed him that I do all the purchasing, and I did not know his company and that I simply refused the shipment because no one within his company would talk to me concerning this alleged "order" during normal business hours and had no employee of mine had the name that he insisted placed the order.

     Well, by the reaction I got you'd have thought I shot the guy's favorite pet. Let's just say that saying he went into Earth orbit would NOT be an understatement. I think I will let law enforcement and our state's attorney general's office deal with these bottom feeders, as conversations quickly turn to threats and repeated call backs to harass. I dont have their product, and I d**n well am not going to be bullied into paying an invoice for product I never ordered and cannot use."

I think that about sums it up. CAVEAT EMPTOR
