Liberty Mutual ripoff Your pratices and methods are horribile Rockville Maryland

I would like to make public knowledge my ongoing situation with Liberty Mutual.I will not give too many facts to protect my idenity and to protect my continuing case that is still open.

I work for a very large delivery company that has Liberty Mutual onboard to handle, and manage thier insurance, and workers comp cases. I was hurt on the job and sustained damage to my lower back.Since the begining of the injury I have had to almost fight for every step I take.This includes presciptions, weekly comp pay, medical advice, and recovery methods.

I was taken to the Hospital by ambulance and was unable to feel my lower body.I was x-rayed and told to follow up with an orthopedic. I followed up, had an MRI, and was referred to have a consult for surgery, all this within a couple of weeks of the injury.I followed order, had a surgery consult and was told that I did need surgery.I then took it upon myself to retain an attorney after being advised by my Union (Teamsters) to protect myself, and my future. I retained an Attorney that has experience with the company that I work for, and expeience with workers comp, and Liberty Mutual. My attorney even knew the case nurse, and case manager by first name.

After retaining an attorney I went for another follow up with the Surgeon that recomended surgery, and the first thing he said to me when he saw me was "So you hired an attorney?What is their name?" The surgeon knew who the attorney was and told me that hiring an attorney often complicates things. The surgeon then tells me that after review and consulting with his associates he woudl recomend that I enter into conservitative medical methods to return me to work, and said that there was no big threat and I should be back to work within weeks. Who is paying this Doctor?

Well 8 months later I am now scheduled for surgery after months of meds, rehab, therapy, shots in my spine, electric shock, and all kinds of "conservitative measures" that have helped but failed in returning me to work. I asked my Orthopedic for another surgery opnion, after another doctor had seen me and he STRONGLY advised that I have surgery that conservitative treatment would help, but not fix the problem(s). I had the second consult with another surgeon who advised to have the surgery ASAP.

In considering this surgery that is not a 100% gurantee, its not even 90% I was concerened for the excpectation of the ending result of enduring more to maybe, keyword maybe fix the problem with little to no complications so that I could return to my job. Liberty Mutual called me a few days later and said that I had to have the surgery and that if I refused that they would terminate my claim, and benefits. I siad yes I will have it.

I had scheduled my surgery, and developed a medical complication that the surgeons office felt the need to cancel my surgery until the medical complication could be resolved 100% as the complication could increase heavily a chance of complications, up to and including DEATH. Liberty Mutual advised that I again was refusing medical advice and that they were going to terminate my claim, that the medical complication that was holding up surgery was not related to my case and that I had to proceed, even though the surgeon would not.WOW, are the claims managers or surgeons in disguise?

I have had to sell my Truck, Bike and severly reduce the way that I live becauste of the financial strain that Liberty Mutual puts on me by not having a regular schedule of paying my weekly compensation, that the wonderful state of Virginia limits to $691.00 per week, which is not 2/3 of my normal salary of when I was working. Sometimes I will go weeks with no check, and its a fight almost all the time to get what is due me..JUST DO YOUR d**n PART AND YOUR JOB, AND PAY...Its that simple, we are not launching space shuttles or finding a cure for cancer..

OK, so in addition to all this the fact that my claim has been threatened on several occasions, private investiagators, no regular schedule of my WEEKLY compensation, declined presciptions, influnced medical advice, and overall general lack of co-operation and very, very poor people skills, I had to deal with my Attorney that is almost as good as consulting with a used tire, and the WONDERFUL company that I work for terminates me for getting hurt on the job, yes you just read that right. The company said that I did not follow proper methods, procedures, and overall job performance. I with the help of my Union took my grievance to a panel hearing and I had to prove myself, yet what proof did they have NONE, they were not there, and in several statements they bold faced lied. What is corporate america coming to, is there any loyalty, customer service, comapssion? Is it just me against them? I dont know but I will say that Liberty Mutual is by far the worst experience I have ever had, and its not over yet.

I hope that the surgery goes well and that I recover quickly so that I can hurry up to get back to the comapny that terminates employees for getting hurt on the job. I do hope that somewhere down the road enough people find this site, and write thier experince with Liberty Mutual, for all to see, and maybe they will either pack up and move out, or maybe a genuine person that has the best intrest of everybody at hand, will step in and re-structure and the company will prosper for years to come.
