I am a member of LFF in Columbus Ohio, but actually started my membership with California Fitness back in 1999. I had paid $200 downs to have a lifetime payment of $9.52 -- until I canceled (this was the very first gym located in a strip mail, which was small, if you were wondering how my payments are so low; they were trying to establish their name by offering low membership to become big)

Lifestyle has recently bought California out and had sent a notice saying that my membership would not change, which this should be; but now Lifestyle has sent out another notice stating allowed by my membership that they are increasing my dues.

I called to get my signed contract mailed to me, but the rep Kathy said they do not have it on file and only keep them in their database for two years. I asked her then how she knows this is true for my membership and she said that the Billing Analyst Manager Mike, was the one that did all the research and provided this to his boss(s) on who should be increased.

I then asked to be transferred to Mike and you guessed it, I had to leave a message; well, I never did receive a call back regarding my signed contract. So, I am sending a letter out, but I think this could be a class action lawsuit due to breach of contract and the fact they do not have my signed contract. Please let me know if anyone else has run into this problem.

LFF is a worthless company & their customer services are even worse...

Mike,

My fees increased the same amount as yours and when they jumped it to $21.34, I tried to speak via phone, but they would never return my calls, only to try and get payment when I had my bank block them. I ended up sending an email stating that if they did not like my terms to cancel my membership and they finally responded and canceled it.

Last yr a lady got a hold of me as she worked in a law firm and was looking to trying to get a class action, but her firm did not handle cases like this and the firm she contacted never got back to her...

I would block your account with your bank and email them the same and take your money and either put it in a savings account, CD, or by a bowflex! I know this is not what you want to hear, but that is all I have and my friend is in the same boot...

Thanks,
Matt

Lifetime fitness: Montly fee in a free *flight*

AUTHOR: Mike - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, January 07, 2010

Hi Matt,
I am very curious how it all played out for you?

I am in absolutely the same situation. I regret I have not looked into Lifetime Fitness practices when they upped my fee from $9.51 to $10.**. And then it became $12.81 a shot time later.

It's hard to believe they increased all their membership fees by 30%. But that did not stop them. I jist got a bill $21.34

Please, let me know if you have any new info.

Thanks,
Mike
