On August 2, 2001, I purchased a D7031D 17" Monitor from Fry's Electronics for my college student. The monitor was purchased because it offered a $50 rebate and everyone knows how costly college is. I completed the rebate form as instructed (i.e. Likom USA rebate form, copy of original receipt, and UPC).

It is now September of 2002 and I still have not received my rebate, nor have I received a response to the numerous phone messages I left with the rebate department at Likom USA. I have been ignored and unjustly scammed as far as I am concerned.

Does Likom conduct business the same way Enron did? Hmmm, I wonder? Trying to pocket $20 - $50 per rebate?

I want my $50 rebate. Likom owes it to me and I will not go away until I receive a check. My claim is 100% legitimate and I have the documents to prove it.

Fry's is responsible because they advertise the rebate, just like the EDitor says in his EDitorial

AUTHOR: Ken - (U.S.A.)

In response to the numerous times a Fry's employee suggested that Fry's is not responsible, the fact is that Fry's advertises the rebate and uses that to get people to purchase the product. Add to that, they know when there are problems and ignore that because they profit from the sales. Other stores will make good on the rebate and will stop carrying products from those who don't give the rebate. I have a friend who LOVES rebates and has great experience in this area, s well as my own experience.

#4 UPDATE Employee

Not quite sure why Fry's would be at fault for this matter?

AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

It appears that they processed everything appropraitely. However here is a few things to do whenever handling rebates with Fry's Electronics

(1) Read the fine print, often there is a misunderstand that can be avoided by simply reading the details... Common mistakes are:
--- Different rebate ammount
--- Expiration date for rebate
--- Wrong rebate form for particular model (common)
--- Cannot combine rebates (usually stated)

(2) Double check everything! And print your information CLEARLY. If they cannot read it, they cannot process it. If there is mistakes (either in your address or in things like serial numbers, etc) they cannot process it and you may never receive it.

(3) Photocopy EVERYTHING before you send in the rebate -- also keep track of when you send it.

(4) Attempt to contact the company (NOT FRYS) if you don't receive a rebate or letter in the time stated or 2 months (whichever is greater). If there is no contact information, then send a set of duplicates and a letter stating that this is a 'second request' and to contact you at ### if they have questions.

** Remeber that they often to NOT repond to you in case of problems so make sure you've got everything done right the first time!

Also, DO NOT take out your rebate problems on the reseller (Fry's in this case) because you would have had the SAME problem had you purchased the product elsewhere.

If you follow these simple things, then you'll have a greater chance of receiving your rebate.
