For a 10 hour rd trip flight, I signed up on the plane for a 30 day wifi service.  Without knowing, I ended up paying for 6 months service.

Discovered charges on the sixth month, I called, demanded they cancel and return the money.
They cancelled, but only returned 1 month payment.

Good deal...

AUTHOR: Batman - ()

So basically, you signed up for a wi-fi plan of some sort and didn't understand it was automatically reoccurring or notice the charges right away. When you finally did, you immediately called and canceled the plan and the company was actually kind enough to refund you the fee you paid for last month.

That actually seems pretty fair to me.

Does it stink that you paid for something you didn't use? Sure it does. But you did agree to pay for the monthly service and failed to cancel the plan sooner. It's not up to the company to make you 100% whole again and returning the fee for your last month of service seems like a pretty nice gesture on their part. They could've just as easily canceled your service right there and told you to take a hike.

You made a mistake, got a little back, and learned a lesson. Could've been worse, right? Life's too short and you'd probably be better off putting this one behind you...

To avoid this type of thing from happening again, remember going forward that 99.999% of service plans will automatically renew each month until you cancel them, whether it's the cable company, internet provider, Netflix,  cell phone plan, or a jelly of the month club. And always review your credit card statements thoroughly each month so you catch any incorrect or suspicious charges right away.

Good luck.
