On sept 13 i recieved a call from my ex who said his sister has gotten a weird call. It was from a company stating they were investigating me for a crime and that I had to appear for a summons. I then called the company and they told me it was a casino dept from colorado. I have not lived in colorado since 1999. I was to speak to a kelsy black, of course that person was not there and I kept getting the runaround. They make it sound like there are involved with the courts and that I was holding for a attorney. This was on a sat. by the way. They would give me no information, just wanted my address ect. They did know the 1st 5 numbers of my social security number. I figured it was a scam and did some research and found all this info on rip off reports. I would love to be invloved with a class action suit asap and stop this people. Who know how many people they have tricked into giving too much information. Please respond, so we can all get together.

First step:

Send them a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt stating:

Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am requesting:

- written validation of this alleged debt and that said alleged debt is within the statute of limitations
- the full name of the attorney who will be taking action against me and his/her license # in the state bar association.
- that you cease all verbal communications with me about this alleged debt.

------------------

What to do when debt collectors make legal threats against you:

Debt collectors LOVE to scare people with bogus legal threats. If they threaten legal action, per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you have the right to speak with their attorney.

When you are speaking to them and they make a legal threat against you, immediately state the following:

Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I would like the full name of the attorney who will be taking action against me and his/her license # in the state bar association. I will be calling the state bar association to verify your attorney's information.

If they do not give you this info, the threat is bogus. If they do give it to you, the threat is real and you should proceed with caution
