Being at the end of my annual contract with The Berry Company LLC for print (Windstream Yellow Pages Directory) and online advertising for my small business operation. How anyone can run a rip-off scam like this and get away with it in this day and age is beyond comprehension. Last year I renewed my annual Windstream Yellow Pages advertisement with The Berry Company last year and was contacted by their sales representatives to also subscribe to online services believing would be for another year. After using the yellow pages and online services for several months with very poor results. Not wanting to renew the program I believed that once they were paid for twelve months our relationship would be completed and final. Berry apparently was not done and I have received additional monthly billing statements for several months’ worth of advertising. Their reason? They had decided NOT to print the next directory for another 6 months, and since our contract with you was from directory to directory that means you owe us for several months more of advertising." This is absolutely outrageous! It sounds to me like they're feeling the pinch of the economy so have resulted to using unprofessional business practices so they are not going to bother coming out with another directory on-time. Instead they will charge their vendors for the break they're taking before they decide to put another one together. Even though it clearly stated on the Windstream Official Telephone Directory to “Recycle this directory June 2010”.I would like to know if any other business people are working with an attorney or the Ohio Attorney Generals Office as I am planning to do. We made have an audio recording during the original sales call where the subscription agreement was presented to our company. Upon reviewing it we were never notified of possibility of a contract extension or the fine print that permits an extension of the 12 month contract. I believe something should be done to prevent this from happening to other businesses because it is such a waste of time and money and is also a totally senseless and shameless business practices.
