My wife and I pay these people twice a year for almost 13 years now.  We recieve nothing in return.  We pay when we receive a paper bill, because they do not provide email or other electronic bill notification.  We pay on time everytime; twice  a year after we recieve their paper bill. 

A year or two ago they claim I was a few days late in sending their payment, however I paid just like I've always done.  Perhaps their bill was late in being delievered by the US mail.  Perhaps I never recieved their first bill; lost in the mail.  I explained this to them; been explaining for going on two years, now.  They refuse to listen.  By God they want their $25 late fee or we can just go right straight to you know where!

Now they are charging my wife and I $15 a month collection fee for their $25 late fee that we do not owe. 

This organization does not seem human.  It appears they are run by Satan himself.  Once I was conferenced in to a call with the BBB and them.   The rep for Lone Star was yelling into the phone.  She was barely coherent.   It's hard to believe that people like these are allowed to control other's people's money and lives. 

Lone Star Association Management should not be working with people and certainly not working with home owners.   Someone needs to put a stop to their terror tactics and if necessary put them out of business.

To the OP, whether you now owe them the same $25, or that plus whatever else in collection, attorney or late fee costs, I advise you to pay up immediately, and fight whoever you need to afterward.

In Texas, a homeowner's association can and will foreclose on your property for unpaid balances owed them.
It's insane for you to risk your home and equity to stand on ceremony, whether its now still $25 or a few hundred.
Pay the dad-banged bill before they bring in attorneys, which will make the balance skyrocket without limit.

False Claims against Lone Star Association

First of all Lone Star collects assessments for the homeowner association in which this homeowner lives, they do not collect money for Lone Star and while they did not specify which association they live in it is apparent from the city address they used.  This association bills their annual assessment semi-annually, January 1st and July 1st.  Assessments are do on those dates and their homeowners association's governing documents do not grant a grace period.  Lone Star does allow them until the 2nd Monday after the due date to pay these those without collection fees being added so their statement that they were a day or two late is in accurate also.  We also do not charge collection fees on balances of $25.00 or less so again their statement that they are being charged $15.00 collection fees on a $25.00 balance is inaccurate also.   

We have managed this particular association since the company began in 2003 and is in fact the association that the business began with.  Their association dues go to pay for a swimming pool, insurance, a large amount of landscaping, repair and maintenance of their common area, security guards, management company, etc. 

Lone Star has a A Rating with the BBB.  We manage 67 homeowner associations.   While there have been BBB complaints in the past (14 homeowners out of over 6,000 that we deal with), they have either been resolved or closed with a BBB finding that we made a good faith effort to resolve the complaints.  None of these have been with this homeowners association and we have never heard of or had a conference call with the BBB and a homeowner.  We do not use terror tactics, we do not call homeowners, we simply send out reminder notices each month based on the status of their delinquency.

If this homeowner believes they have a legitimate complaint, we are requesting that they provide an account history proving these facts and the report they filed with the BBB.  If they cannot provide this information, than we are requesting this complaint be removed.  Since the homeowner did not provide the account name or address, we cannot provide the account history to provide you with the inaccuracy of this report.
