I was 10 days late on my payment because my truck was in the shop for 2 weeks for another repair. Lone mountain called me at 8:15 in the morning i was sleeping when i got up i called them back around 11:20 and they put me on the phone with Andy Lucht and he explained they already had repoed my truck. I asked him how they knew where it was done the street and he responded we put GPS in all owed financed truck.I went down to see if my truck was there and it was already unhooked from the trailer and gone.

I called Lone Mountain back and asked if i could get my stuff i was told i would have to pick the stuff up in IOWA. I live in TN what a joke.As of today i still don't have my stuff and they don't respond to my calls. I was Ripped off for all my stuff in the tractor.

Hey Ken

AUTHOR: MartyMarsh - (United States of America)

We are not talking about fixing a car here where you come out of the garage with a bill for a hundred bucks.I don't believe he mentioned what was wrong with the truck, but it being in the garage for 2 weeks is enough for some people to go out of business. Then once it's fixed it could be in the thousands, now he has enough left to either pay a truck payment or buy fuel to make more money,we know what most would do,the same thing he did.Now anyone can argue the fact if he didn't have the money to buy a truck and to hold his head above water in the tough times he should not have bought it.BUT,that is what Lone Mountain is about, low down payment and ify credit.People with money go to Kenworth ,Peterbuilt, and Freightliner not Lone Mountain. They are just typical predators, and now they have another truck they can sell all over again.

It would seem to me that pulling the repo trigger so soon would not be profitable

AUTHOR: Steve - (USA)

Seeing that it costs money to repo, and the balance of the loan is usually more than then the value of  the car minus the cost to sell it. However, I'm not in the car business, and I have generally found that those that are in a given business have figured out how to make the most money in it. Perhaps it is true that with the bad credit crowd, if one is 10 days late, it is hugely probable that they are not going to pay anymore.

BTW, why did they have to use the GPS to find the car? Did they ask for it and you did not tell them? Also, did you contact them the second you knew you were going to be late? I'd imagine that if you kept in contact with them, it would ease their mind that you were not just going to take off with the car.

This is one of those (very rare) cases where it may have been worthwhile to take out a short term "payday loan".  But again, I think if one keeps in contact with their creditors, they have a much better chance at working things out.

To Marty and Ken your rebuttals make me laugh you defintely work or are friend to Lone Mountain even reciting there website we work with drivers with dings in there credit, what a joke you clowns have to work there because of the information in the rebuttals. If you were just posting a comment it would be a opinion not knowing everything about Lone Mountain and how they work there web site jingle etc etc etc .

Marty Marsh, I don't work for this company or any other...

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

I'm happily retired.

I would suspect this is also not the first time the OP was late with a payment to this lender.

He doesn't mention it.

When you borrow from a sub prime lender, they don't believe any excuses you give them...they've heard them all, numerous times, and yes they are aggressive in getting payment of THEIR property.

To do otherwise in their situation would be costly to them.

Almost ANY subprime lender would do the same things this one did, including the GPS, to find their property if the vehicle is kept out of sight.

The "I was 10 days late on my payment because my truck was in the shop for 2 weeks for another repair." is a really poor reason to be late for a payment.

I like Kens rebuttal the best.

AUTHOR: MartyMarsh - (United States of America)

Ken said in his last sentence,I have a feeling this isn't the first time you've had credit problems.

Well Ken,even though you already know this I'm going to tell you anyway.

There own web site says,We work with honest ,hard working drivers who may have a few dings on their credit record, and yes Ken that would be credit problems.

Up untill this point in my life I have never heard of anything being repossed being only 10 days late, but with these people that would make perfect sense.Just keeping selling the same trucks over and over then they don't have to buy anymore. So Ken,who do you work for?

Anyone that takes advantage of people with bad credit is nothing more than a predator,it is giving them hope that really isn't there.

The part that really bothers me about this,is I bet you people have no problem sleeping at night.

There is going to come a day when, before someone buys anything, they are going to check for bad reports on a company, guess what happens then? The best part is even if the driver was lieing, how many would would actually take a chance on them.So this will all work it's self out.

CALL A LAWYER THEY RIPPED YOU OFF

AUTHOR: step deck 25 - (United States of America)

10 days is your grace period no repoed with a legal and  above board company would do this to a consumer. Lone Mountain is doing what North American Van Lines did in the 80s and 90s take the truck for resale. They took his down payment and payments and re-sold the truck. As far as a GPS unit that was put on the truck to gain LEGAL ADVANTAGE over the OWNER OPERATOR. I feel sorry for this person but Lone Mountain is doing this more and more because of the economy and they don't have the money to purchase more trucks they are recycling what they have. They should have give this OWNER OPERATOR THERE STUFF BACK THAT DAY. As far as the other Rebuttals they only comment i have for them is you have to be current Employees of Lone Mountain Truck.

GET A LAWYER AND SUE

Would only 10 days late really trigger a repo?

AUTHOR: Steve - (USA)

That seems a bit extreme. I once had a car where I forgot to make a payment, and thus was a whole month late. I had to pay a late fee, but they did not even report it on my credit, let alone repo it; repossessing is usually a last resort, since getting the debtor to pay is better for the company financially.

Your excuse for your late payment is pretty lame..

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

"I was 10 days late on my payment because my truck was in the shop for 2 weeks for another repair."

What has the truck being in the shop got to do with your payment being late?

Does your loan agreement allow you to be late when the truck is being repaired?

If not, they were more than justified in Repo'ing your truck. Do you expect that any other lender would have done differently?

I have a feeling this isn't the first time you've had credit problems.

Really?

AUTHOR: Tagurit - (USA)

While they should have made arrangement to allow you to retrieve your belongings without going to another state, do I really need to tell you that it was really your fault because you didn't make your payment on time in the first place.  Just because your vehicle is in the shop doesn't mean you don't owe the payment on time.  Sounds like they were smart for putting a GPS in their vehicle - as most car companies who lease or have a car they are financing will do.
