On Nov. 20, 2004, we were trying to purchase a used vehicle. Unfortunately, we were getting ready to turn one voluntary repo in(no payments had been made in 3-4 months) and the year before we filed Ch. 7. The salesman ended up conning us into a vehicle for more than we could afford, but we thought we could handle it at the time.

Needless to say the only company that would deal w/ us was LBAC. They called everyone we knew after a payment was just a few days late and now everyone knows about us being behind on our payments. But the real problem is that the car dealership we were dealing with told LBAC I was receiving a SSI check each month which was completely untrue. I have never seen a dime from SSI.

LBAC FAILED to visually verify that, nor did they verify that we had not made a car payment in months and that we had filed Ch. 7 the year before. We realized not too long after the purchase that we made a huge mistake, but according to LBAC the way they verify income and outgoing bills of an individual are legal. If they had seen that there was only one income and bills that were not being paid in a timely fashion, they would have had second thoughts about loaning the money they did.

Like I said, we realize our mistake, but when LBAC lends money out to individuals WITHOUT actually verifying the truth about income, whose fault would this be? For a company just to go by word of mouth through a car salesman (of all people) and anyone off the street, the company should be responsible for their employees actions.
