folks, remember, Trans continental talent and the record and film arm are different. TCTalent is a website that puts up people's pictures. I worked for the record company and I disagree with some of the characterizations.

did Mr. pearlman make a ton of money- sure. and he should have- does george steinbrenner make a ton owning the yankees wihtout ever throwing a pitch. sure, but he takes all the risk- remember danny tartabul- or kevin maas. did you pay their multi- zillion dollar salaries to see them suck?

no.

what if backstreet- lou's first boy band- had flopped. he gave those guys (some of whom really were delivering pizza or singing for 8 bucks an hour at the local theme parks) dance and vocal training, wardrobe, image consulting, and put up all the money to send them to europe.

what if they'd flopped- do you think these kids or their parents would've written him a check back for the 2 million he shelled out to get them started? RIGHT.

I agree, you can go to a SAG agency as the editor suggest. just one problem- who's going to drive you to auditions, photograph and print your headshot and send them out for free? for free? no way. YOU pay for the photographer, makeup artist and reproduction of the headshots- and you get your butt to audtions with a cab or your beat up car.

that's why so many of us wait tables- it's flexible, usually in the evenings so we can go to auditions during the day and pays the bills. I did it before I worked at TC records and I still do it because I want to make it as an actor.

By the way- I am NOT on the TCT website- I don't think it's helpful for someone like me in a smaller acting market. but that's my personal opinion.

WHAT HE DOES IS HE MAKES YOUR CHECK BOUNCE AND WHEN YOU CALL HIM UP HE SAYS HE DOES NOT HAVE THE FUNDS BUT ASKS YOU IF YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN TAKING A SMALLER CASH PAYMENT... THIS IS THE WORK OF THE BIG BAD FAT MAN... AND ALL YOU BOYS THAT ARE OUT THERE LOOKING TO HOOK UP WITH THE BIG FAT MAN, ITS NOT YOUR WALLET YOU NEED TO WATCH OUT FOR ITS YOUR SEXUALITY,, THAT HE WANTS MOST. GET NUDE FOR HIM FOR $800.00 CASH THAT'S WHAT HE PAYS BOYS THESE DAYS. also I heard he owes some of the Backstreet boys managers millions.... AND DON'T BUY THE STOCK ITS A RIP OFF HE OWES MILLIONS TO HIS INVESTORS. THE FTC IS LOOKING INTO HIM

Mr. Pearlman did do a great job. No doubt he spent millions to make them what they are today, but, he took way too much from them, taking advantage of all the kids gets his hands on, while they are so young and innocent. The way I see it, Pearlman gives a whole new meaning to one sided contracts. If there were a poster for promoting HOW TO GET SCREWED, a BIG picture of BIG Pearlman would be the logo.

I agree Lou tries to take all the money from the bands. Just because these kids were delivering pizza, or working at a carwash untill he put thenm in a band and spent millions on them does not entitle him to take a share of the profits.



Artists should wake up and smell the roses. Don't sign with someone that will take a percentage of what you earn. Find a way to market yourself directly by spending just a few hundred dollars and not paying a percentage.



But where would one go to find such a company?
