We bought 200 feet of erosion fencing, and spent four hours digging 6" trenches and burying the bottom of the fencing for a new construction inspection. The inspector failed the inspection, which was faxed to Lowes, because they are selling erosion fencing that DOES NOT MEET City Of Portland requirements for quality.

ow we must dig out the 200' of fencing, and replace with fencing that is compliant...which we can buy at Home Depot!

Lowes was barely even apologetic, and basically said too bad how sad, we feel it's the homeowner's resposibilty to know the code. They did offer a refund. Considering the size of Portland, and that three counties are in the area, Lowes buyers should act more responsibly and buy products, which competitor's already carry, that meet the standards in all areas.

I'm not looking forward to wasting another four hours of time installing new fencing and then getting to dispose of the bad material.

Lowe's did nothing to try and rectify the situation. Had I caused a problem like that for a homeowner, I would have found new materials and sent employees out to install it and remove the bad.

We're installing $20,000 worth of stainless steel appliances from GE in our kitchen; appliances that Lowes sells. They will not be getting the opportunity to give us pricing on the appliance package or for the plumbing fixtures, cabinets, etc.

We'll happily shop a mile away at Home Depot, where the service has always been great.

LOWES WILL SUFFER THE SAME FATE AS HOME BASE TIGARD AND FAIRVIEW OREGON STORES- SAME PROBLEMS

AUTHOR: Marck - ()

POSTED: Thursday, May 02, 2002

Fred
I was surprised to see someone else from portland had a complaint about Lowes since they only recently opened. I too am furious with this company. I purchased a rug from the store you speak of and wanted to return it 9 days later in mint unused condition.

I went to the Fairview store because its closer to my house. They gave me the 3rd degree and I HAD MY RECEIPT. They called the manager of the rug department but she called the wrong manager so I had to wait for them to call the right manager. They took the rug back. She then helped another customer who came in after I did. By the timverything was all said and done she said she could not issue me a refund becaue it takes 14 days for my check to clear their bank sso I would have to come back. She then wanted to issue me a STORE credit.

Since this was for 100 and I will never ever ever step foot in lowes again, I did not want a store refund. I can understand the check needs to clear and informed them they could send me a refund but they said this isn't the way we do it and basically tough fungies.

I then called the 800 complaint line, nothing they could do. I then called the refund manager and she refused to give me her last name and because I insisted, she hung up on me. I then called the corporate office and got the same thing. I just so happned to be in this Lowes store 2 days prior in the garden dept and waited 30 minutes in line while the cashier helped ONE customer buy a few plants. Other employees were walking around int he garden area. I couldnt get help with getting down bags of mulch.

I called the 800 number and was told someone would call me back---guess what, they never did. So when I spoke with corporate I told them about this and they said you are right, I am sorry we didnt get back to you. Someone will. Guess what I am still waiting. What a crock of service.

I think its strange that Home base went out and lowes came in soon after. The two seem to have the same and worst terrible customer service and return policies. I told the ceo's office I give them 5 years if they keep it up

I am livid. I live in Vancouver and so this wil be the 3rd trip I have to make to return this rug. NEVER AGAIN LOWES-your prices, services and products give me no reason to tep foot in your store to only be aggravated by a bunch of teenie boppers that you have running your stores.
