Lowe's, a large credit card service (working through GE) does not allow customers to pay in advance through any type of recurring payment or automatic payment method.  This is done to increase revenue. Lowes does not allow online automatic or even allow one to submit recurring payments through a bank through ebills.  As they accept online payments, they have all the information needed and the capability to allow the scheduling of automatic payments but refuse to do so.  This increases revenue through late fees and interest also charged on deferred-interest promotional periods.  This is disgusting, unethical business practice.

lol... perfect Jimbo, perfect...

I see no one actually has anything to say in regard to the context of the post and what originally brought them here to make false assumptions. Still trying to figure out if you're just a troll of too stubborn to admit when you're wrong. It's like arguing against someone how says, "It's wrong to shoot someone for no reason" and replying, "well it was your discussion to go outside where you put yourself at risk for crime", or "well, I think people that get shot are generally into trouble, so you must have done something wrong". Reaallly? the lameness just continues...

Another inept commenter

AUTHOR: sgim43 - (United States of America)

Another inept commenter.  Seeing as how you took the time to comment me, like me take the time to correct you.  It seems you're having a hard time deciphering the meaning behind a group of words. Focus.  First, your heading on irresponsibility is baseless, and even laughable if you knew me. My credit and financial standing is great, I have multiple degrees including a doctorate, and I can go on and on, but then I'm sure you just make some comment saying I'm egotistical which is also completely false. But me irresponsible? Not even close.  So why do you say this?  Because you're failing to interpret the post correctly, and it really isn't that hard.  It's not about it being "too much trouble", although I really appreciate your wise words of wisdom that follow that.  If I had only had such good mentor before you came along I would know the prudent thing to do and not be too busy to check my accounts!  Oh, thank you!  And yes, I could easily close my account and end my relationship with this company, but once again this is irrelevant.  If my post was about being trapped in such a relationship maybe it would have some relevancy, but it's not.  In fact, for all you know I could have already paid off and closed this account and this is a post on my experience.

Great, now that we got that cleared up, lets discuss what you missed.  The post is about a business practice that seems shady, is in the least poor customer service, and yes, their ethics are more than called in to question as well...

Say 20 years ago one of the largest hardware chains decided not to except MAIL and required it to be hand-delivered to the store to make it more inconvenient and thus get more money.  This company expects other pail, but just won't let you send in payments that way, and no one in the company even makes an attempt to explain why this is when questioned.  As said, It's common practice now and all the information needed is already given by the customer and they do have the capability.   With what is already set up it would take a web designer no time at all to create that option.  There is no technical hindrance, it's purely a choice.  It is known that autopay decreases missed and late payments.  What would any company want this? To collect fees.

You are showing your irresponsibility

AUTHOR: MovingForward - (USA)

If you don't like the way Lowes does their credit card payments, then pay off and close your account. However, based on your post, you expect the company to change its business practice to accommodate you. As an educated consumer you have the choice to either do business with the company or not.

As a comment, you are setting yourself up for failure. You indicate that it is too much trouble to check on your accounts regularly and you prefer to set up the payment automatically. This is a recipe for failure. Even automatic systems need to be checked regularly. Checking each account monthly is the prudent thing to do. No one is so busy that they don't have time to check their own accounts at least once per month.

More Irrelevancy

AUTHOR: sgim43 - (United States of America)

No one's trying to impress you Jimbo.  Yes, I have many automatic transactions - big deal, what's your point.  Again, another comment completely unrelated to the point of the post, just anower slow-wit troller.

Inane

AUTHOR: sgim43 - (United States of America)

Thank's for the inane comment, "Jim" of Orlando. It's common practice now, and they have the capability. Say 20 years ago one of the largest hardware chains decided not to except MAIL and required it to be hand-delivered to the store to make it more inconvenient and thus get more money. It's the same thing. Yes, when I have everything set up autopay, (about 20 different payments) it's annoying, but the point is the REASONING!! If you have anything intelligent to say let me know.

Oh How Oppressive That Must Be!

You can accomplish the SAME THING by logging on and making your payment every month.  But I guess that must involve too much effort for you.
